It's just terrifying when he gets in a game. Yeah, he has a ton of saves, but with him pitching it's more like surviving than closing.

Do you remember Wickman?

Tonight was clearly not Joe Bo's fault. He had that game won about 3 times by letting his defense make plays and he finally said screw that Im just going to strike this guy out.

I realize that there were 2 errors in the 9th, but he also gave up 2 hits and has an ERA over 5. That's way more than Wickmans ever was. But it's true that Wickman might have actually blown more saves than Borowski, but any time he comes in he scares the bejesus out of me.

Take out 2 of Borowski's games and his ERA drops to around 2. That Yankee disaster wrecked his ERA for the year. Thats why I think ERA's for relievers, and closer in particular is a very very bad way to evaluate them.

Why all the Indian hate on this site?

Post#5 » by TheOUTLAW » Sat Jul 21, 2007 5:45 pm

I guess I ought to be used to it by now on this site, but it's kinda surprising to me with the Indians. They are a young and exciting team, but people are acting as though it's just a team full of bums.

Here is another reason to love Joe B.:

Borowski had fire in his eyes when the catch wasn

I knew as soon as Borowski came in last night that he would blow the save after what I said about him on here. Its too bad because he really looked good out there, he just threw one meatball and freakin Pierzynski of all people hit it.

While he didn't blow it, once again Borowski puts drama into what should have been an easy close situation.

I dont see how you put that on Joe. He had an easy double play ball kick off of 3rd base, and then a perfectly placed bunt single. Pretty damn hard to stop those things. Then he came back and struck out the reigning MVP, with some nassty stuff.

Okay, well here he goes again. Tonight, the Indians are up 1 in the ninth and he walks the first player. Don't know how it's going to end up yet, but it doesn't look good.

Yup, once again he blows it and might even give up the winning run, there is still one out and a man on 3rd. I swear he's terrible.

Eh... The guy pitched in 5 out of 6 games straight. He looked flat out gas from the first pitch he threw. I knew he was in trouble from the minute he came in. Why he was even brought into the game last night baffles me, and he still found a way to pitch out of a tough situation with only giving up a run.

Seriously watch that 9th inning again last night. The Mariners were absolutely baffled by Joe, but got some lucky hits. That "no doubles" defense that we have been playing late in games is killing us. I hate it.. There is no way that ball falls in if the OF is playing straight up. Then freaking Betancourt throws his bat at the ball and manages to get an RBI. Unbelievable stuff.

I still like Joe, but even Joe needs a game off every now and then.

It just drives me nuts how he seems to almost always get the first 2 strikes but ends up walking the first batter of the inning.

I am seriously begining to hate Borowski. He's blown 2 saves this week. How can you pretend to be a serious contender when you can't even depend on your closer?

The only good thing about him is that you know you won't see him again since he only does one inning. Unfortunately, the Indians have used most of their really good relievers just getting to Borowski today.
