Wash is a great pickup. We didnt give up much and now have the best three man rotation in the AL

Uh oh.

The White Sox got Peavy.

Which means not only did the Padres lose Peavy but he'll be playing for a division rival.

He isn't having a very good season this year, but he's certainly a better talent than Washburn.

I like the deal. Luke French had a couple nice outings but he wasn't in our plans moving forward. In fact both players weren't even in the top ten of our farm system. To get a top pitcher right now for two minor league pitchers who had no real future with the team is a good move.

Even if Washburn doesn't pan out the rest of this season, we aren't out anything because his contract is done after this year I believe. I still don't know why Dombrowski is holding on to the crippled vets. But getting Washburn wasn't a bad move at all.

Verlander/Jackson/Washburn/Porcello/Galarraga...... not too shabby.

Don't worry. Peavy used to pitch for the most pitching friendly and now he's moving to the Cell. Plus he's out for the season and is coming off a major injury coming into next season and I don't feel as if it would make much of an impact. Also remember: The 2 Sox hitters that hit us the hardest (Thome and Dye) would be approaching their late 30's.
