Only 2 teams lost money in 2009. The Diamondbacks were one, losing $600,000. The Tigers were the other, losing $29,000,000. Sure, they had a lot of terrible contracts, but damn, that was a bad year.

Looking at that loss of $29.5M, the first thing that comes to my mind is that is a lot of pizza. The Tigers spent $115M on their payroll and did not make the postseason after losing to the Twins in that one-game playoff.
