DALLAS -- Tigers infield prospect Gustavo Nunez was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the major-league phase of Thursday’s Rule 5 Draft. The Tigers did not select a player.

Nunez, 23, split the 2011 season at High-A Lakeland and Double-A Erie, hitting .276 with 13 doubles, seven triples, five home runs, 26 RBI and 18 stolen bases in 96 minor league games.

That kinda sucks, I know DD was pretty high on him. During TigersFest a couple years ago I very clearly remember him talking up Nunez

I'm more curious about the guy they allegedly wanted that was taken before they picked.
