Balester has pitched in 62 games in the big leagues, 40 of them in relief. He was 1-4 with a 4.54 ERA in 35 innings last season with the Nationals. The scouting report on him indicates that he can throw in the mid-90s and has a good curveball but has struggled with his control.

Too bad about Perry. Dude was a first rounder and had that initial look of closer of the future. Kinda disappointing to give up so early

Perry got hammered in the playoffs giving up a grandslam he lost playoff games for us., i would have traded him too to try and get someone we can use in the next playoffs.

What gets me is everyone says give Porcello another year, he's still young, but Perry doesn't get that luxury? What gives here? Last I knew they were roughly the same age....

Balester got DFAed cause he sucked. Perry at least had options left. Terrible trade.

Never said it was a good trade. I'm just thankful I don't have to watch Ryan Perry allow 99.9% of inherited runners to score anymore.
