Well, I'm pretty sure 99% of the Tigers related media coverage during spring training is going to revolve around 1 hefty 1B/DH.

I'm interested to see who "wins" the starting 2nd base spot. As well as who is our number 5 starter.

For me, that hefty 1B is just icing on the cake.

Miggy to third will be a big story. Whats interesting to me is a bunch of guys are moving to third and yet Cabby is getting by far the most attention. I don't expect HanRam to have much trouble, but Brett Wallace (250 lbs) and Mark Trumbo moving seem to be just as risky. And if Pablo Sandoval can handle the hot corner, Miggy can too.

Second base should be interesting, yeah. I'll bet a Raburn/Santiago split is the final result

In non-Tigers news, Joel Zumaya blew out his elbow again. after 13 pitches. Tommy John Surgery again it appears.

so sad but I'm not sure what Twins fans expected. Guys career is over

Lineup against Florida Southern:

1. Austin Jackson, CF
2. Brennan Boesch, RF
3. Miguel Cabrera, 3B
4. Prince Fielder, 1B
5. Delmon Young, LF
6. Alex Avila, C
7. Jhonny Peralta, SS
8. Andy Dirks, DH
9. Ryan Raburn, 2B

Could definitely be the opening day lineup. I like it

There's no better options at DH?

Dirks had a helluva offseason playing in the Dominican League if i recall. DH is going to fluctuate a lot throughout the season, but Dirks should get a bunch of games this year. I like him personally...

Detroit Tigers slugger Prince Fielder, during a round of batting practice Wednesday, reportedly hit a ball 611 feet — a distance measured by longtime Detroit News scribe Tom Gage.

:o

Now the measurement method was a bit shaky, but holy ****

I still don't see why we can't give Cabrera and Fielder each a number of games at the DH.

Why do we need a "regular" DH. Can't it just be used to spell various guys?

Knowing Leyland, I can just about guarantee this is how it will be. Prince, Cabby, Delmon, Raburn, Dirks and more will all inevitably get time there. Jimmy loves to rotate and tinker with his lineups daily, so expect to see many different players at DH in a given week

Ajax, I agree. Even if we had Martinez he would probably want to tinker with

So Cabby got blasted in the face by a grounder today. Quite bloody apparently. Perfect.

I wonder where his glove was during all of this. Maybe he had some mimosas before the game.

So they sent Turner down, I love the move, let him get some more seasoning in AAA. I don't want him rushed up too soon, which could stunt his development. They guy seems to have all the tools, and once he puts it together, he could be special.

Thank god. The Tigers have a terrible track record of rushing their guys to the majors before they are ready (see: Maybin, Cameron). It gives him a much more stress free environment to really hone some secondary pitches and to get ready for the show. I think Turner is going to be a great #2 behind JV in due time

We really need a Lefty starter anywho. We can't roll out five Righties, it doesn't make sense. I hope Oliver (my pick) or Smyly gets the last spot.

And Inge should be cut. Good grief

Welp Oliver got crushed today, which doesn't help his cause. Let's see how Smyly's next start goes

Oliver optioned to AAA. Below and Smyly battle for the 5th spot. I would like to see Below in long-relief and Smyly get his crack at it

Just got tickets today from a supplier for the April 11 game against the Rays. Nothing like blowing off work to see the Tigers for free.

Could be worse things in life :D

Rays should be a fun team to watch too. I saw them live last year and enjoyed it thoroughly. Longo especially
