Seems like he could have been a solid utility guy off the bench, as he has a lot of versitility as a defensive player.

Seemed pretty upset by the Cabrera trade. I never really understood that. The guy was good out in the field, but he'd been such a strikeout machine that I don't quite see how he thought he was "entitled" to to start (as if any player ever is).

In any event, if its indeed true, best of luck to Brandon in LA or wherever he ends up. Couldn't bat worth a lick, but he was a good soldier (until he became a drama queen).

I don't think it's as close as Henning believes. Also I wouldn't trade Inge for RP at this stage - give me prospects. You can't judge relief pitching in spring training because you have to see how they perform in high leverage situations. Todd Jones once tried to explain his save situation success compared to situations when he is pitching with a bigger lead or in tie or losing situations and said the the effect that when pitching in save situations the batter psychology is different, they are tighter and looking for the big hit, whereas in less stressful situations they are more laid back and open to trying more things at the plate.

Just like not every pitcher can be a closer, there is a lot of batters who choke or let the game-on-the-line situation get to them.

I also think relief pitchers are virtually a dime a dozen unless you are getting a dominator and nobody is trading a dominator for Brandon Inge. Guys like Grilli, Bautista, Byrdak, Seay, Cruceta are not worth trading for. Scott Proctor has serious health questions himself, and LAD is not going to trade a Broxton or Meloen.

Take prospects, and then if we the bullpen proves to still be a need come the regular season, use prospects to go after relief help.
