I started watching the Tigers 4 years ago, simply due to how historically horrible they were. But obviously they've been doing much better since and have watched more and more by the years. I watch about a game a series and was wondering if I could if some insight on a few issues.
Thoughts on extending Ivan after the season?
How has Cabrera met expectations?
What's your thoughts on D-Trains future here?
After early trade talks will Inge replace Renteria next year?
Has Sheffield completely lost it or is it simply the injury?

I do NOT want to extend Pudge unless he comes cheaper, I even believe in a article by Yahoo earlier he was listed as one of the most over payed players in sports, he makes roughly around 12 million a year that's way too much for what he's giving us. He's also on the decline, he can still be a great "glove" not so much a bat.
Cabrera has met them pretty fine in my eyes, he had a really slow start but he's been one of the best players in the league the last 2 months, in fact he's had 14 RBI's in the last 6 games, he's really caught on to the pitching in the league, expect him to put up huge numbers in a Tigers uniform for the next 8+ years.
D-Train really needs to work hard in the next year to get his mechanics right and to be able to pitch the way he was a few years ago, if he doesn't he will be gone as soon as his contract ends. I doubt any team would bite on him right now so he's most likely with us till his contracts up, that's when the Tigers will know if he's worth giving him another contract.
I doubt it will be Inge but Renteria will not be back next year unless suddenly he raises his batting average to .300 + these final months of the season. I wouldn't be happy with Inge as a daily bat either, I'd expect us to either trade some of our nice young players (Joyce, Thomas) for a shortstop.
I doubt Sheffeild has lost it, he can still swing and run, just not the way he used to, I think the shoulder injuries really are the reason why he's struggled, he's picked up since his last DL stint though, I hope he can get it going and get his 500th home run in motown.
Oh, and another thing with Cabrera, I want him back at 3rd unless he really, really becomes a good defense first basemen, the whole idea of getting Renteria was to be able to move Guillen to 1st so he would have a less active job as in moving around and diving, etc. Even though he's been pretty good at 3B.

1. Unless he comes cheap, Ivan should be done here.
2. Offensively he's starting to get going, but he's still prone to dumbass decisions at the plate. We didn't REALLY need his bat, though, and he has played below low expectations defensively. Having to play him at first and forcing Guillen to third makes our infield defense awful. His RBI numbers are inflated by who he gets to bat behind, so even is O numbers aren't as good as they look.
3. He has none. Even before getting hurt he looked absolutely god-awful, and is now in the process of com
4. I dunno if Inge is the replacement at short, but Edgar is gone regardless next year.
5. Yes to both options. Older players are more injury prone, and thats been a role, but he looks like he's about done. The issues aren't just going to go away.
