So negative....
Probably right, though.
Kinda feels like this series would have been more important if we'd done better in the previous couple, doesn't it?
I guess its still theoretically possible, but it would take a pretty meteoric rise and I doubt this group has it in 'em.
We are back to being below .500.

We're gonna get swept. The only really good pitcher we have right now is Galaragga and he's not scheduled to play this series. I hope Verlander gets back to good next season.
I really like Joyce, Thomas and Santiago. I hope they find spots with the team next season. Raburn is like the supersub who can play practically every position.
Thames is good in stretches, but I'm not confident in him playing left field. I would rather him stick to the bench and have Joyce/Thomas cover LF.
Renteria needs to go, Santiago has a better glove anyway (and better offense for that matter).
I dunno, maybe we turn Maggs into our DH and put Thomas in RF. We can then ship out Sheff for some pitchers.
Our pitching needs a big turnaround. Farnsworth is not, was not and will never be the answer.
CF Curtis Granderson
2B Placido Polanco
3B Carlos Guillen
DH Magglio Ordonez
1B Miguel Cabrera
LF Matt Joyce
RF Clete Thomas
SS Ramon Santiago
C Brandon Inge

Pistons#1, it just does seem like it, we can't play with the big boys.
As to the lineup posted above me, that's pretty good, we also get better "athletically", I mean our team is terrible at running bases from a speed standpoint. I'd rather go out and get a different right fielder, Clete was good but the pitching against him when he began to play later on in the season was taking the best of him.
I look at that lineup, with Cabrera back to normal. Joyce having the power to hit 25+ home runs while batting near .270, Magglio still being maggs, we are a contender. Though I'd like a better short stop, I'd also like Inge to be the way he was back in '06.
Placido and Carlos basically give us the same numbers every year so I'm fine with those two as well. As for pitching, we need to re-do our starting lineup, I know Willis had a great start but that was in Single-A, doesn't cut it out for me. I don't like Nate at all, the only starters I want back on this team is Bonderman and Verlander and Gallaraga, hell, I'd rather have Minor over Robertson.
Too me, our bullpen is fine, it just need's to click, they have really good stretches and then a bunch of crap stretches, that's really just a way to kill your team. We need to go out and get a closer, I don't like Rodney in that position and I don't want Zumaya to close just yet.

Clete was fine at the plate, but the coaching staff thought that he didn't hit for power enough so they tried to change his mechanics. I liked Cletes approach, he wouldn't make the highlight plays, but he always made a good play, which is more than I can say about half that lineup.
Santiago is a fine SS and I'd like to see him get a full season under his belt here. He's played two great seasons so far for us off the bench.
Our pitching needs help. Verlander/Bonderman/Galarraga is a good 3-pitcher rotation, if Willis could get his **** together, we could probably get by using that last spot for one of our pitching prospects (maybe Porcello?).

I can't believe I sat up all night to watch that collossal F-up. For every Tiger player that has some fight left in him, there are 2 losers who choke, boot easy plays, whiff or generally fail to show the spine of a contender. Farnsworth was actually crying when NY traded him to Detroit; he botches his last effort miserably and so we reward his cry baby a$$ with another opportunity to blow a lead while allowing Seay (who was outstanding last outing) to pitch for 1 minute. I could complain for 2 pages about all of the ways we blew it. I've been holding out undue optimism all season for these underacheivers, but I think we are running out of rope. One more loss equals 8.5 games back at which point this season is cooked. I'm in Chicago and the only regular games I get to watch are Sox games (and their ignoramus announcers). I am positive we are a better team in talent but they are doing what we are not. They grind, they never collapse when behind, they make the plays that have to happen in the clutch. I just don't see that with our team this year. These 2008 Tigers are truly dissappointing.

Farnsworth is pitching his way out of the majors at the moment.
These Tigers have been a massive disappointment, but looking at the problems this team has I now have trouble understanding why we didn't see it coming. I'm a little taken aback by how lousy the starting pitching has been (I at least expected mediocrity from them), but the bullpen and defense issues should have been seen coming a mile away.
Regardless of some disappointing seasons, this team is scoring plenty of runs, they are just blowing it in the clutch. A lousy pen and equally flimsy defense will do that to ya.

That homer last night was the season waving bye bye.
The loss tonite only compounds it. Its time to start looking to next year. Farnsworth is w/e, he will be gone next year, as Pudge would have. Put Sheff, Renteria on the bench, play Joyce, Raburn, Clevlen, etc.
Our bullpen is prolly worst in the majors...its a joke

Tonight's loss was also Farnsworth's fault. I know, he didn't pitch, but it's his fault anyway. If Pudge were here he could have caught for six innings, pitched the final three innings for the save, and driven in, like, a JILLION runs and stuff.
This team has the heart of a turnip.

6 game losing streak..... man Pudge really has stunk up the past two series for us. I can't believe his audacity of making us a bad team without actually being here. Thank god Kyle Farnsworth came to save us.

Yeah, Pudge's 1 HR and 1 RBI with the Yanks while dropping his season average from .295 to .291 would have definitely carried the Tigers over the top in these last six games. What a juggernaut he is!

Are you guys still pissed about that stupid trade? Do the haters really think having Pudge instead of Kyle has us winning the last few?
Do you guys even watch baseball? honestly....whats done is done

I watch baseball and know it like I know basketball and football. Yay me!
To tonight's game, it was that or we're 9.5 games back. I like the win better.
