waiver claim has been placed on Toronto Blue Jays right fielder Alex Rios, according to Major League Baseball sources.
This deal smells like the tigers did it needing a bat and outfielder.

Rios is good, but he had a bad year. He is worth a look see. I wish the Tigers hoped on that, but I doubt it at this point.

I would just love to have a mediocre bat making more than what he's worth until 2015. Where do I sign up?

It's believed the White Sox made the claim, while I'd like to have him, his contract is just too much, He'll make right around $10 million next year and $12 million the final four years of his deal. As to why he was waived, most likely to rid of his contract.

We'll have quite a few high salary players coming off the books after this season and the next. Alex Rios is a nice option considering not having to give up anything for him. But I highly doubt the Tigers jumped on that.

Rios can be good, but he wasn't worth it.
