Always great to beat a stud like Felix. Porcello was great. Cabrera was clutch. Rodney was Rodney.

Nice win to start the series.
My only gripe with the game was Leyland. Porcello was pitching great, OMG he walked Ken Griffey Jr, hardly enough reason to pull him from the game. Perry comes in and does great. He gives up a hit to start the 8th and he's pulled immediately. Seay comes in and gives up two runs and loads the bases. Are you kidding me? AND.... Seay got the win!! OMFG, Leyland, quit handling the kids with kiddie gloves. Let them pitch like big boys. Especially when they're pitching better than your big boys (i.e. Seay).
Avila once again coming through for the team. His HR started the 8th inning rally and imo, saved the game. Cabrera with the solid single with the bases loaded sealed the deal though.
Verlander pitches tonight.

In seems more and more lately that in order for our team to win, it's the young guys coming through in the clutch. Clete, Avila, Curtis, Miguel..... What are we paying Magglio and guillen big money for again? (Dontrelle and Bondo for that matter too).

Cause they have performed well in their careers on a much larger sample size of plate appearances. After another 1,000 atbats each, Clete and Avila could be bonafide all stars, or not worth a roster spot. Their fates are undetermined despite some recent success. I don't have the feeling that Clete is a potential star to be honest, he just doesn't hit strong enough for me. Besides it's not like he is hitting lights out, he's still a paltry .408 slugging percentage for the season. Not good, not good at all. It's not even worth a roster spot IMO. I'd rather be playing one of the other 20 minor league players that we have that have potential to be quality hitters, now's the time to uncover them, instead of going with somebody with less chance of becoming a breakout player.
