De Aza, key player

Last year our OF, especially CF, was weak. Although Amezaga, Borchard, Ambercrombie and Ross helped out here and there...the CF and RF spots where basically automatic outs.

Now...not only is De Aza NOT an automatic out...he actually looks like an exciting hitter. He has speed, has batted well over .300 in spring training (had 2 hits on opening day) and looks like a legit defensive outfielder.

De Aza and Ramirez, 8th and 1st respectively, could be a chaotic duo with the ability to start rallies.

If our injured players come back soon...we could be dangerous all around.

Agreed. Especially a left-handed one. And with RF still open...we can perhaps deal for one later in the year. That is, of course, if we are in the race for the NL east.

What if the Reds are out of it mid-year. How about a deal to get Adam Dunn? I'm sure they are tired of him batting .250 and they may want to restart developing players.

Yet for us, we already have a group of guys (Borchard, Ross, Hermida) batting .250 at RF. Dunn won't change that, but if our RF is going to bat .250 we might as well get Dunn and add 40 home-runs to the lineup.

I doubt we trade for a RFer. Hermida struggled last year, but I'm sure the organization considers him the long term option there. He was rated as one of the best prospects before last season.

Well he's still no lock to be a starter. If we're in the race for the NL east late in the year I think something can happen.

I'd deal Hermida + pitching prospect for Dunn if the Reds agree to pay 90% of Dunn's contract.

Dunn is a FA after this year, we won't deal Hermida and a prospect for a rental player

remember, Hermida is still like 22, 23 years old, plenty of time for him

There's no way, no way Hermida is going to be traded this year even if we're in the race.

He's a lock to get the most chances to be the starter at right field over Borchard and Ross.

Another young gem found in the minors.

He's Ambercrombie with a bat which is exactly what i was looking for in CF.

he sure looks like he belongs, not bad for a 22 year old with < 100 double A games under his belt

I think De Aza should be back tonight since he pinch hit on Sunday.

He's hitting over .300 and about half his hits are extra-base hits. A few more bases on balls would be nice though.
