Why do we keep going back to this POS, Julio? He's more erratic than LOOPER.
Leave Gregg, Leave Owens, leave anyone.
Waste of money and a pitching prospect in Petit.

yea, we should cut our losses
it really sucks that Beinfest is pretty much forcing our manager to have his guy save...he cost us a game already, and almost cost us this one. Plus the one non save opportunity he had it turned into a multi run inning
he sucks.

Who are the candidates for this job?
Gardner
Tankersly
Carlos Martinez (what happened to this kid? He had elbow inflammation last year and had to shut it down but haven't heard any updates. Sick stuff)

im pretty sure Martinez had Tommy John surgery last season....

I think Martinez had Tommy John surgery, he's out this year
also Kensing
Owens is my #1 choice, he has looked great
Gardner has the age and minor league experience
Lindstrom throws the hardest

I still think Julio can still come back this year, he has good stuff, just no confidence right now
let him get some familiarity with the team and surroundings, but let him get comfy in the 7th not throw him in the fire for now

He has no control; he can't throw strikes. I don't see his pitching ways changing.
I rather not play him but his contract suggests otherwise so the 7th is fine.

yeah but his career #s suggest otherwise, he has a high K/IP ratio
he needs to trust his stuff and his catcher - he shook off Trainor several times and the next pitch was smacked

So what are your thoughts of T Hutton when he said: "I don't care what Larry Beinfest or Freddi Gonzalez think Julio can be, if he can't throw strikes, then they need to get one of the other strong arms a chance"
A bit too premature?

it was probably the strongest statement I can remember Tommy ever saying in 10 years, that was the surprising part

Yeah, and he said it with such enthusiasm too.
JULIO IS HORRIBLE !

This guy is horrible. He looks like he has no confidence at all. I just hope management can swallow their egos and admit maybe he isnt the option. I really like Owens and Tankersly as our setup man and closer positions. But Julio has been awful. [/i]

They should give Owens a chance.

I don't like Tank as a closer -- for me, if you're going to have a lefty closer, he better throw smoke like Billy Wagner or John Rocker

Owens will get his chance...if it isn't right now, it will come soon...

How about Lindstrom? He has a great arm and can top 100 MPH easily.

He got a chance yesterday and did well--the job is up for grabs.
Meanwhile our bullpen is looking spectacular.
