cash for helms (Phillies waived him and had to pay his entire salary, like 3+ million, the Marlins probably threw them the minimum they would have paid Helms if he cleared waivers and were signed)

DFA means they have 10 days for trading, releasing, or sending him down
I think he has the option of asking for a release instead of being sent down

Helms should give us some good at-bats off the bench, and fill in @ 3B should Cantu struggle. He wasn't so bad with us a few season ago, prior to signing with Philly.

And, if this is true, we aren't bringing up Volstad (or he didn't make the line-up), because if we bring him up prior to June, we'd have less years for arbitration is plain silly!
