The Man just sent one up on Tal's Hill!
This dude in only 26 years old. He has done nothing but improve each and every season that he has been in the League.
Such an impressive guy to be the cornerstone of a young franchise.
Astro for Life!

He has been great, outside of his getting picked off or running into outs in almost every game.
I do enjoy watching the little guy play though.
How long until he gets popped for PED's?
JK. I hope.

Congratulations to the Little Big Man for being named this years starter at 2B for the All-Star Game!
Pretty obvious choice with the season he's been having.

He's been impressive, even by the standards which he has already set for himself.

This man is a very good baseball player!
It doesn't feel like we've even seen his best yet, either.
Edit - I posted this before the second home run

He has been amazing, no question about it.
He was hitting .341 going into the All Star Game, now he's sitting at .360 after today, and that's impressive even considering that I feel batting average is overrated.
Dude has a .428 OBP, 17 HR, 60 RBI, 75 runs scored, 25 steals(though I still hate his mistakes on the bases at times), and an OPS over 1.000.
Great season for him so far.

1,000 hits.
Of today's active players, only Ichiro got to 1,000 hits faster than Altuve.
El Hombre!!!

Very cool accomplishment and it's a shame we might be falling out of the playoff race(it ain't over yet, though!... I think) because I'd love to see him win MVP for his fantastic season.
He got there faster than Biggio, Bagwell, Berkman, or any other Astros legend before him. Very impressive!

The Sporting News on Thursday named Altuve its 2016 MLB Player of the Year Award winner as voted on in September by 341 major league players. He is the second Astros player to win the award - Jeff Bagwell won after his National League MVP campaign in 1994 - and the first second baseman since Ryne Sandberg in 1984.
Altuve put together one of the best individual seasons in Astros history in 2016, batting .338 to claim his second AL batting title in three years and setting career highs in home runs (24), on-base percentage (.396) and slugging percentage (.531).
The four-time All-Star was worth 7.6 wins above replacement, according to Baseball Reference, fourth in the majors behind Trout (10.6), Betts (9.6) and NL MVP frontrunner Kris Bryant (7.7).
Altuve garnered 84 votes, 20 more than Betts, who placed second. David Ortiz, Bryant and Daniel Murphy rounded out of the top five. Trout, the consensus best player in baseball, finished sixth, a product of the Los Angeles Angels' 74-win, fourth-place season.

The greatest 5'6'' major sports athlete I have ever seen in my life. The guy does everything: hit, run and field. Hopefully he wins MVP.

Three dingers in a postseason game?
Not bad, little man.

Back-to-back-to-back good news!
1. Championship.
2. Take a wild guess Raoul.
3. Altuve MVP.
Has the leader in strikeouts ever win the MVP?

https://www.mlb.com/astros/news/jose-altuve-5-year-extension-with-astros/c-268898340WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Astros superstar second baseman Jose Altuve agreed to a five-year extension worth $151 million that begins in 2020, MLB.com has learned. The club has not confirmed the report.
The deal, which would be the richest in club history, begins at the conclusion of the deal he signed in 2013, and locks up one of the most popular players in club history through his age-34 season. Altuve signed a four-year, $12.5 million deal in 2013 that included a $6 million option for 2018 and $6.5 million for 2019.
The previous largest contract in club history was Carlos Lee's six-year, $100-million deal in 2006.
Great news! Can't afford to let the Little Big Man get away! This will hopefully go a long way in helping to keep Correa around as well, even though he's likely due to get a massive payday when he becomes a FA. It's going to be hard to retain all of Springer/Bregman/Correa etc but locking up Altuve long term is a great start.
