Craig Biggio Watch/The Quest for 3,000

This thread is for tracking the progress of Craig Biggio and any discussion about him. A lot of people feel like this is detrimental to the team because his defense has deteriorated and his bat tends to go silent on the road and during the second half of the season altogether. Is the organization putting indvidual goals ahead of winning and what is best for the team as a whole? I was watching a game the other day when a ball fell right between Craig and Chris Burke that I have to believe would have been an out if we had a good defensive player at either of those spots. Some feel that Burke should be at second and somebody else with more range should be roaming center but keeping Biggio in the starting lineup forces guys to play out of position.

Lets hope he gets to it, I just hopes he stays healthy, but then again, Biggo has never really had a bad shoulder, or anything like that, so I think he can get it done, at this age he plays better than most 20 yr olds, just seems to amaze me at times.

I can't bring myself to say Biggio shouldn't play, even if his defense(range mostly) has declined. He can still get the job done well enough and he's hitting ATM. I do however think he should get alot more days off this year, which would only benefit him and also allow us to play Burke/Loretta more at 2nd.

Off topic but personally, I am no longer very high on Burke AT ALL. I won't be surprised to see Pence playing CF before the year is out.

And come on, Biggio is a legend, let's let him have one more year and celebrate him getting to 3,000. I personally can't WAIT to see that happen, I'd be thrilled. As long as he isn't losing us games(atleast, consistantly) let the guy go out swinging.

My 69 cents.

Biggio will get to 3,000. What a career for a guy who started off as a catcher then a 2B.

Then a LF, and then a CF, and then back to LF, and then back to 2B.

Glavine is 20 years older than Biggio but he's still dominant.
Biggio needs a knee-transplant.

4 more to go.

Garner better bench his ass atleast 2/3 in Milwaukee so he does it at home next weekend, I'll be pretty sad if he does it on the road.

Old Man benched tonight, good. 3rd game is a day game, he should be benched for that too.

Hopefully he does it Friday night, Thursday would be ok though, as long as it's at home!
