"Pence, who suffered cuts and lacerations in his hands and knees after falling through a sliding glass door Tuesday, could be ready to play in exhibition games soon after the Grapefruit League starts."

what is the story behind this...fell through a sliding glass door?

Chris Sampson might be out of our rotation

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Wednesday's announcement that Shawn Chacon is now a member of the Astros' pitching staff greatly diminished Chris Sampson's chances to make the starting rotation, but Sampson isn't going to let that deter him from plowing ahead with his Spring Training game plan.

So what? Wandy pitched very well, the other scrubs who pitched aren't worth anything anyways. We didn't see our best arms from the pen today, and Lee/Berkman/Tejada/Matsui didn't play.

All I care about is the fact Wandy looked really good in his 2 innings, I'll worry once we have our best lineup out there and still get wrecked.

Not to mention a) the Indians are very good and b) it's just the first game of spring, it means nothing.

Still....

....bastards better win the next one.

So Oswalt pitched well today, as did Valverde. Tejada apparently sucked and Matsui didn't play because his ass was swollen!

"New Astros 2B Kazuo Matsui was a late scratch from the starting lineup because of hemorrhoids. He is expected to play Saturday against Atlanta."

the astros made the 1st wave of cuts

Right-handers Brad James and Sammy Gervacio were optioned to Double-A Corpus Christi, while Chad Reineke, Paul Estrada and Fernando Nieve and outfielder Yordany Ramirez were optioned to Triple-A Round Rock. Non-roster invitees Lance Niekro and Tommy Manzella, both infielders, and Josh Muecke, a left-handed pitcher, were reassigned to Minor League camp.
