The Astros are cutting ties with suspended pitcher Shawn Chacon following Wednesday night's confrontation with general manager Ed Wade which turned violent.
The team has requested waivers on Chacon for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release.
"We've consulted with the commissioner's office today, and they're fully supportive of us invoking the clause in the contract that allows us to [release him without pay]," Wade said.
