Who's the odd man out?
The signing of Andruw Jones leaves us with a surplus of outfielders. Kemp, Eithier, Pierre, and Jones. What's the next move?? I don't think there are any blockbuster trades on the horizon that would obviously include Kemp, so I'm thinking the Dodgers need to find a team to take Pierre even if it means eating some of his contract. I would rather have Eithier in left field opening day. Thoughts??

I see it as either Kemp or Ethier that would be moved. It's unlikely that someone is willing to take Pierre's contract. As you stated, Kemp would only be included in a blockbuster deal. If one of them were to be traded, Ethier would probably be the one. To be honest, I wouldn't trade of our 4 OFer considering the fact that we are pretty much limited on offense. I know Jason Schmidt isn't a guarantee next season but our rotation is pretty solid. Penny, Lowe, Bills, Schmidt, and Loaiza is pretty good to me.

Don't forget we might be signing Kuroda to add to that pitching staff. It's just hard to believe that we would pay Pierre that kind of money to be a platoon outfielder yet at the same time at I would hate to have him out there every day at the cost of Eithier and Kemp.

There's news coming out of Chicago that Ozzie might want Pierre as their lead off hitter. Perhaps we can exchange Pierre for Crede or perhaps an arm? All i know is that I would want to have a weak arm in LF. Kuroda is also another possibility. If I'm not mistaken, he has us, Seattle, and New York as possible suitors.

Obviously Pierre out is the better option, but Ethier will command a pretty nice prospect from TB's rich, deep farm system. They have pitchers and infielders deluxe.
Don't really like trading Ethier for another prospect. Eithier is not the type of player to demand a high grade prospect.

I was thinking about this situation today. I think LA needs to keep all five outfielders (including Repko as a pinch hitter).
What are the odds Kemp/Jones/Ethier will be healthy for 150+ games? Having Pierre on the bench, will allow for late inning pinch running (hello Kent, Nomar. Martin), late inning lefty pinch hitter when baserunners are needed - not HRs obviously, and if Furcal gets hurt again Pierre can always step back into the leadoff spot for some games.
Yes he's overpaid, but it's not like the HAVE to trade him now.. Go to spring trg and see how Kemp is looking, and then make a decision. There's always the trade deadline too.

All true, but it still is a little too much to pay for a platoon outfielder.
