dodgers asking mets about RA dickey

this maybe a fall back plan in case greinke goes elsewhere, but it is an attractive idea to bolster our rotation with 3 recent cy young winners. Dickey being a knuckler, it is possible to consider that despite being 38 years old he may still have good 3-5 years left in his prime.

maybe so, despite his 1.0 range whip, his fielding independent pitching is about a half run higher than his era.

even than i have a soft spot for knucklers. tom candiottis and tim wakefields of the mlb are fun to watch when their balls are dancing.

anywho, wish we can offer something to rays for price

MLB rade rumors says the Rays are up for trading Shields, Hellickson and Price

said they don't think they'll be able to afford price.
i thought they would try to ante up for one pitcher just like they did for Longoria.

however, since they signed Matt Moore to that poverty deal, i don't think they care. He is the future.
SHields'll come cheaper....Price would deplete us....but he is worth it....and id go after him and extend him.

the more i read and think about the rays' situation, i feel more confident that we probably could pry shields away from them without giving up zach.

maybe we can dangle zach in a package for one of Price or Felix. traditionally the mariners have a terrible track record of trades and misreading potential of prospects, maybe they will bite zach+dee+harang+harang's salary for felix?

just realized that every thread is turning into the same discussion.... maybe we should stay within the topic.

RJ dickey, my personal biased pitcher i would like to have but his age and as you said, the luck factor indicates he is probably going to normalize his stats next year and be above average but not spectacular and not worth the contract he would demand. but i love knucklers.

That's how I see it too...

I think Dickey is 1 and done. He'll never repeat his performance last season so we'll be buying high and not getting equal return.
He'll still likely be a solid pitcher, but will be over-paid. Possibly quite a bit over-paid.

i don't project dickey to repeat his cy young ever again, more like tim wakefield range at sub-4 era and be an end of the rotation guy next year. knowing Ned, if we do trade for this guy he will stick him right behind kershaw.
