Anybody else hoping Cody can play himself out of the "bring him up/send him down" game in his stint in the majors? You know that game where the Cubs sat Kris Bryant for the first 2 weeks of a season to earn an extra season?

Theory: If he's worth it (like Kris Bryant), you're going to be extending him at big money anyway.

Btw, his run down the 1b line was impressive. Arroyo did have to cover a lot of ground but he fielded it cleanly and made an accurate throw.

Yeah, I'd like to keep the kid up for a while but I don't think it will happen at least for his first stint up here, anyway.
I'd love to see him play more at 1B but at least there's an opportunity for him to learn from A-Gon and build up chemistry with Seager while he's here. He'll definitely benefit from the time here and, depending on how he fares in the meantime, he could hopefully be called up for good later in the season even after all our players our back healthy. I'd make a spot for him by trading Andre Ethier and eating money to do it to a team in need of an outfielder at the moment like the Pirates, but they're budget conscious over there.

it is goddang frustrating to watch Cody Bellinger's at bats with 3 up, 3 Ks so far, but he has a great talent that is easy to see.

with that violent swing that runs through the zone in a crazy rapid velocity, he is managing to make contacts to foul off pitches as if he was choking up on the bat with the intent to protect the plate. he nearly hit a HR on a cracked bat in his second try tonight. you just don't see a guy break his bat and the ball still travels 400 feet.

2017 REGULAR SEASON LA Dodgers & international

Post#110 » by Quake Griffin » Thu Apr 27, 2017 4:03 am

Content with Cody's at bats tonight.

**** the stat line.
________
Corey's HR the longest of the year in SF?

That ball was crushed.

_________
I'd like to see Wood get the 7th on a hitter by hitter basis.
His stuff is coming back. He's dominated tonight. He earned it.

Blah.
Go Romo.

I just tuned in and missed Wood's impressive performance and Seager's homer. Thanks, Neddy, for the description of Bellinger's at-bats.

Tie Game

Post#112 » by Ranma » Thu Apr 27, 2017 4:38 am

Baez was actually pitching well before Grandal called for the fastball up, which was right in Morse's wheelhouse. What a waste of a gem by Wood.

Like I don't hate Baez enough already.

that was incredibly frustrating. we had 3 balls to spare and I was just telling my poor wife who has to endure my addiction to baseball that the next pitch should be a low and outside slider just to watch Grandal call a mid high fastball that resulted in a homerun.... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

god. Adrian just does not have the power to hit HRs anymore. his old HR swings ends up a routine flyball to the outfield.

I think Bellinger would have also fielded that bunt and throw to 3rd quicker than Gonzalez. Oh, well. We just lost on a sac fly to Bellinger in LF.

Unbelievable how much we lose to this team when they aren't better than us and it's somehow justified because we win the division.

Seems like the rivalry matters more to them from my vantage point.

Being a Dodger manager or player should be like playing at Ohio State/ Michigan. You have 2 goals. Win it all. Pound your rival. It's not ok to lose to them just because the big picture looks fine.

Is there any reason to demote Wood to the bullpen at this point btw given how poorly Kenta Maeda is showing?

His velo is back and last night, he looked like the talented 2nd round pick turned starter that he was in Atlanta.
He earned the 7th last night even though it wasn't given to him and he earned another start imo.

edit:
Manager Dave Roberts said after the loss that a pitch count was in place, which Wood was unaware of, but understanding, per Bill Plunkett of the Southern California News Group:

“I didn’t know I was on a pitch count until I got yanked,” Wood said. “That was probably the longest I’d gone since my last spring start so I wasn’t surprised.”

what was it Dave? 77? 80?
