Granderson needs to sit even it it's only to get a break. Dude should not be an everyday player at this stage of his career.

Stop going to Pedro Baez expecting something different when that well has been dry for some time now.

If other players are not stepping up, play Austin Barnes and **** Hernandez more as regulars until their teammates step up.

We're actually dragging Clayton Kershaw down with us instead of putting him in position to lift us up.

Completely agree, particularly with the last sentence.

Eye Test on Verdugo's Speed

Post#1083 » by Ranma » Fri Sep 8, 2017 4:25 am

Nice catch by Alex Verdugo but he really is slow-footed out in the outfield. Same thing happened in CF for him a few games before with the only difference being that he was way late on the ball, which dropped in front and rolled past him.

Orel Compares Buehler to Pedro [UPDATED]

Post#1085 » by Ranma » Fri Sep 8, 2017 5:46 am

During the telecast, Joe Davis mentioned Orel Hershiser's previous comparison of Walker Buehler to Pedro Martinez. Orel obviously qualified it by saying that it's unknown whether Buehler will have the same career as Pedro's but he compared him to a young Martinez coming up with the Dodgers during Orel's pitching days with the organization before Pedro was traded away. Both were of slight build with good arm action and could both throw balls with high velocity and plenty of spin.

Walker certainly has been the bright spot of this otherwise dreary game. The kid faced the top of the order in the 9th inning and struck out 2 including current NL batting-average leader Charlie Blackmon.

My father and I got pissed and flipped the game off once the Rockies blew it open.

I missed Walker.
Smfh.

I scanned Arizona's schedule to close the year. It isn't difficult at all. We're going to have to win a lot to close the division out.

Sports Center said no team has had a stretch like this and won the World Series.

All the other teams this year thst have had a stretch like this are absolute bottom feeders....Giants, White Sox, Reds, etc etc.

2017 REGULAR SEASON LA Dodgers & international

Post#1088 » by Quake Griffin » Fri Sep 8, 2017 6:03 pm

Ken Rosenthal just confirmed that and said the 2000 Yankees went 2-13 to end the year.

A win tonight and we are 2-13 over our last 15.

Check Out My Updated Post Above

I just replaced a couple of video tweets that had copywright issues and added another with an interview with Walker in my updated post above if you want to see some footage of him.

Orel noted that Buehler tends to struggle with every promotion in the minors before adjusting, which sounds similar to what Bellinger and Seager were going through, but Orel then remarked how he must have used that experience to his benefit in his MLB debut. The kid was composed on the mound and postgame interview.

Obviously, he'll eventually struggle but we'll see how he handles adversity hopefully early next season. It's a limited sample size, but Walker Buehler looks like an unpolished gem right now.

Still in absolute shock that he touches 100 mph after the surgery.
At the draft he was projected 94-96 MPH.

Now, I dont expect him to hit 100 MPH as a starter because...well, it's just obvious starters don't throw at full tilt so they can get deep into games.

But I still didnt expect his absolute ceiling to be 100 mph.

I like his poise...his disposition...everything about the kid. I lightweight chuckled at "no offense, prospects are a media thing" (paraphrased)

My fav draft pick of the Gasparino era. Glad he's up and I'll be hurt if he doesnt work out in the short and long term.

Seager Returns, Liberatore & Gutierrez Done for Season

Post#1095 » by Ranma » Sat Sep 9, 2017 1:33 am

Chris Taylor with the scheduled day off, but at least Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger, Justin Turner, and Austin Barnes are in the lineup tonight. Why Curtis Granderson continues to play is beyond me.

Same Old Stuff for Darvish in 1st Inning

Post#1096 » by Ranma » Sat Sep 9, 2017 2:27 am

Darvish gives up a home run in the 1st inning to CarGo. For the life of me, I don't understand why he can't fix his 1st-inning vulnerabilities. It's a known issue. If he needs to fine-tune his pitches, start ramping up his pre-game routine or something.

Thank goodness for Turner giving us the lead 2 - 1 with a 1st-inning homer of his own.

2017 REGULAR SEASON LA Dodgers & international

Post#1099 » by Quake Griffin » Sat Sep 9, 2017 2:48 am

Just hit me that Yu wears Greinke's number 21.

He was better in that 2nd inning even though a couple curve balls got away from him.

Good frame job from Austin on that 2nd K as well.

I dunno if Austin earned a 50/50 split of starts next year or the full time gig but he deserves some type of promotion even if it's effect is more symbolic than anything.

Darvish through 3 with 54 pitches.

Hopefully he can get through 6 tonight.
