This is a wild game. I missed much of the first 5 innings of the game but it looked like Chicago got to Kluber early after going on 3 days' rest. Cleveland has closed the gap but Chicago keeps responding.

I don't know if this has been a wild game as it is an agonizing one if you are not pulling for the cubs. a leadoff HR by Fowler set the damn tone, it has been a catch up game for the Indians since then.

Chapman gives up 2-run HR to Rajai Davis with 2 outs in the 8th inning to tie up the contest at 6 runs apiece.

now after this post season, I have no doubt in my mind that we need to overpay to retain Jansen. there is no better closer in this game. Miller didn't hold up, Chapman exposed, even if we can make a deal to trade for Britton, we need 2 great arms at the end of the pen to win it all.

that POS' slide to Iwamura was not only dirty but intentional. he went high and rolled right into his knee. never even made any effort to apologize afterwards and it was a meaningless regular season game.

my oh my I thought that was a single right down the center and Lindor comes out of nowhere to make that into a routine ground out to end the inning.... what a play by what a player.

Coghlan's Slide

Chris Coghlan's reputation notwithstanding, I didn't think that slide was particularly dirty. However, with the new rules, I thought the runner at 1B would be called out since I don't think he reached the bag at 2B on the slide. Did he, though? I missed it on the replay. In any case, they allowed Fowler to remain at 1B, who then proceeded to steal 2B and advanced to 3B on the throw.

Lindor just made a great defensive play and throw to strand Fowler at 3B after the previous batter struck out on a fouled bunt attempt with 2 strikes.

although unfortuntely that new rule was nicknamed the Utley Rule, it should have been Coghlan Rule. and I thought he made a dart move to the defenseman's knees and made no effort to slide into the bag. his body did end up in the vicinity but his slide did not have his feet nor his hands reaching for the base at all. Heyward should have been called out on first to complete the double play as the rule was written and intended for.

and unlike Utley who plays the game hard in every facet of the game, Coglhan has been a designated tackler around the basepath to injure opposing players. many have come away without serious injuries but I remember a dozen times he aimed at players' knees and nothing else.

This has to be one of the most perfect baseball games of all time, in terms of the historical significance going into the series and how it's all playing out. One could scarcely script a game so perfectly.
