well? I don't think what is happening is okay or acceptable, but baseball is a game that manifests the realty of mathematics. events in life tend to happen in streaks, and as much as we have enjoyed our winning streaks this season, this was not only inevitable, but preferred that it happens now. I don't trust Maeda with anything, so if we win on Monday, it will be a surprise, but Kershaw is going to start Tuesday. I believe that's when our losing streak will end. him coming off a terrible start the last, you better believe he is dying to prove himself all over again.

as I have been saying some time, don't worry, I am glad we are getting all these statistical symmetry balancing losses now, and not when the playoffs start.

on a good note, Seager looked healthy and so did Ethier.
ehhhhh f it.

I missed the game watching the Rams win today but heard about the score and umps not helping our cause.

I want Austin Barnes at 2nd.

This call IS NOT a call for Yasmani's job. It is a call for Forsythe's.

Move Yas down the order to 7th.
Put Barnes 6th.

Yeah. I felt that way when we first lost 5 in a row.

Im glad we've been humbled though and glad we are forced to fight for our season.

If we right the ship, it could be the edge we need.

As if our troubles can't get any worse, Maeda gives up a 2 run HR to start the game to Denard Span that clears the fence and goes into McCovey Cove.

Cue every bit of doubt and every inkling we have that says we can't beat this with that hit.

Of course Ty Blach will have a Cy Young performance as well.

And of course I wake up to another L.

The Giants could barely score against the White Sox. They put up 8 runs?

At this point, something is broken. A collective mental yips or something and I don't think we are getting it back.

I'da rather won 91 games and lost the usual way than this garbage.

All on Dave Roberts

Post#1148 » by Ranma » Tue Sep 12, 2017 5:57 pm

The players obviously are responsible for this disaster-in-the-making but I put a lot of blame on our manager. Like I've said before, you don't lose this many games in such a short time without a level of mismanagement and Roberts has certainly handled things poorly.

Even bad teams don't lose 11 straight games or 16 of 17 but Dave Roberts' Dodgers have done both and counting. Continuing to play struggling players and not putting them in positions to succeed is something he has been guilty of. Not throwing players under the bus and resting them is all well and good but stubbornly doubling down on ill-advise moves is spoiling the talent and resources that he was handed.

The front office did its job in providing the manager with a collection of good players. It even got more talent added at the deadline to address the shortcomings of the roster while still retaining our top prospects to feed the Major League team for years to come. You certainly can't blame Friedman, Zaidi, and the rest of the think tank for this mess.

A good manager should have a good read and feel on the pulse of his team. Yeah, he's given analytics and information by the higher-ups to use, but he's still the leader in the clubhouse who sees his players every day. He should have an instinctive feel of what to do and what players should get opportunities. Dave Roberts has not exhibited any such skill during this extended slump.

If Kershaw cannot save the day against the worst team in the MLB, time to focus on football.

Still Not Putting the Best Lineup Out There

Post#1150 » by Ranma » Wed Sep 13, 2017 2:35 am

Granderson is batting lower in the lineup today as the 6th hitter, but again, why is he even playing? **** should be in the lineup over him. I'd also like to see Barnes in there, but Kershaw prefers Grandal to be his personal catcher. However, Barnes deserves to be in there over Utley even with the lefty-righty matchup since Barnes has reverse splits this season. The absence of a 3rd-string catcher is currently hurting us since it keeps us from playing our best players more often and consistently.

One of the common things pointed out by the media pundits about our slump is that the Indians are playing with a regular lineup night after night while they're rolling; Roberts, on the other hand, keeps switching up the lineup card every night. It's even more detrimental when Roberts has reserved spots in the lineup for struggling hitters like the aforementioned Granderson.

7 left on base.

Kelby Tomlinson takes Kershaw deep.

Again...starting from behind.
This is the most unreal **** I've ever seen in baseball.

Down 1 - 0

Post#1153 » by Ranma » Wed Sep 13, 2017 3:12 am

Kershaw gives up a solo HR to Kelby Tomlinson. Kershaw made a good pitch so credit has to go to the kid for squaring up that high fastball inside.

The Dodgers' impotence with timely hitting has come back to afflict us once again as we left the bases loaded to end the top of the 3rd inning.

Utley serves me some crow in tying the game up with a pulled splash shot into McCovey Cove.

Kershaw then gets on base with Austin Slater losing sight of the ball in LF.
