2016 Regular Season Thread

Need our offense to take a little pressure of the pitching, but I don't like the Braun idea... Bringing in one big name guy isn't the answer IMO, unless we view him as a long term addition to our core... We need a better mix of leadership on Offense IMO... I think we shoot ourselves in the foot if we focus on a big name quick fix.

**** takes a page out of Trayce Thompson's playbook in addressing his early season struggles with the bat while the Dodgers option Austin Barnes in order to sign OF Will Venable. I'm not against giving Venable a chance but I've stated how much I think Austin Barnes deserves the opportunity to prove himself as a starter, so I'm not in favor of this move.

I don't mind. Austin needs to hit everyday and keep himself sharp and continue to improve. at the bigs, I was hoping for him to get some regular work behind the plate but he hardly had any at bats. and I am not mad about grabbing a loser like Venable to play for us, bench playing and being a primary pinch hitter is hard for young players, and it is a job for a vet. just wondering why we cut Crawford if the best replacement left handed bench player was Venable. I suppose he gives us a better outfield defense.

ahhhh.... don't agree. if we play our two best players to be leadoff and #2 batters, who will bring them in? Utley's best asset right now is his OBP. it will be wasted batting say 6, 7, or especially 8th in front of a pitcher. and if we are gonna run out those two to lead off, I would rather have Seager lead off. that way, we can actually manage L-R thing. Gonzo would slide into the 3rd spot, Struggling Turner as clean up so we can have Joc hit in the 5th hole. that is not ideal at all, but better than Thompson leading off with Seager going in the two hole. that throws everything off.

... and as I talk crap about him, Turner belts a lead taking HR!

yeah that didn't look good... hopefully it's just a contusion but the way he was rolling on the ground and unable to put weight on, he may have cracked his tibia.

And I'm glad we walked out of today with a W and a series win.

I like this team and I believe it has a shot. We just need a little more health and some better luck from the baseball gods.

I checked this morning and we were 12th in Hard Contact rate (ahead of the Cubs...go figure....i thought they mashed) but last in BABIP.

LAST IN THE LEAGUE!
Tells me either our offense is really unlucky or we're hitting into shifts....combination of both????

Just ONE game.

2 cleaning innings of relief by the pen.
and Runs from our offense.

Just ONE game like that....we're 60 some odd games in and can't get it.

hmmmm.... how about yesterday?

Kershaw went 7.1
the bullpen gave up nothing
and SVS hit that 3 run homerun....
just saying...
