Brandon McCarthy made it onto the roster? Unbelievable.
I dunno whether to defer to the Dave/FO that had the vision to see Maeda would be an animal in the pen or to be skeptical of the Dave/FO that thought Granderson deserved to be on the DS and CS roster.

Only way I see this being an issue is if like Granderson/Utley, they go to McCarthy ahead of a guy like Maeda or Morrow... As long as they go with the logical better pitchers first, I actually like having an extra pitcher in the pen over Farmer who was essentially useless with our platoon behind the plate... As a pinch hitter, he left a lot to be desired.

Very Very tall task for this pitching staff to get through.

The Yankees ALMOST did it and I think we are talented enough to match and even exceed their efforts.

Games 1 and 5 X-Factor vs. Keuchel: Umpires

Post#1524 » by Ranma » Tue Oct 24, 2017 9:27 pm

Ben Lindbergh, TheRinger.com (10/24/17)
To sum up: Keuchel is a left-handed, strike zone–averse, ground ball–oriented starter who loves to stay down, going against a team that hits lefties hard, chews up pitchers who stay away from the zone, launches a lot of fly balls, and punishes low pitches. For all of those reasons, the stats say that the Dodgers should be Keuchel’s worst nightmare—more negative news for an Astros team whose path to victory in games 1 and 5 already runs through Clayton Kershaw, leaving little room for their own starter to struggle.

Or maybe—and here’s Houston’s best bet—a combination of Keuchel’s pitch placement and generous umpiring will turn the Dodgers’ discipline against them. In Game 1, Phil Cuzzi—who ranked sixth in umpire strikeout-to-walk ratio during the regular season—will be behind home plate, ready to ring up the Dodgers on borderline calls. And if the series gets to Game 5, the plate ump would be Bill Miller, one of the few umps with a more pitcher-friendly long-term track record than Cuzzi. No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy, and in this case, L.A.’s enemy might be the umpires, whose strike-calling won’t do the Dodgers any favors if Keuchel is anywhere close to the zone.

It's still weird to me that the MLB has teams that never play each other all season and can still meet up in the World Series...

Keith Hernandez said the AL was better than the NL this year.

No way.

More relaxed than I’ve ever been for a Kershaw start.

Still like 6 IP or 100 pitches for him.
But I’m relaxed.

Go figure

See what I mean on that 91 mph cutter.

Hes now throwing it to the outter half. I don’t think it’s as simple as it flattening out.

And boom. Slider to K Springer.

That 91 mph cutter over the middle of the plate to Altuve.

I see it as more of a cutter.
Altuve was early trying to time it like a fastball.

I wish Neddy would get here and provide more insight.

He has all of his pitches tonight btw. If there’s no crap, he should pitch well.

I didn't think the announcers could be worse than the NLCS... But they are.

Go back a page or two.

There’s an article on Kershaw’s slider flattening out.
I said I don’t think it’s flattening out and that he throws a slider in the dirt and he evolved that pitch into a cutter that he can throw up in the zone.

Wanted your thoughts.
