Sorry. It was Nong Shim's Neoguri. I've been partial to these Japanese instant noodles since college.

And an epidural has Kershaw's.

Dave uncertain if he'll be ready by the time the ASB is over.

How unlucky can one team get?

Can only hope we can weather the storm until everybody gets back.

So proud of Kenta Maeda for his start today.

We needed a good start and some good news after the Kershaw news. He throws close to 30 pitches (26???) in the 1st inning. Looking like the bullpen will be taxed for 4 or 5 more and he fought back. Held the damage in the 1st to 1 run. Pitched 5 more scoreless innings.

He wasnt just wrestling the Brewers hitters but his own pitch count, the teams need for at least 6 IP, and all the bad vibes from the Kershaw news.

Nice lead now.
Shut it down bullpen.

#Dodgers say Kershaw MRI showed "mild disc herniation that will not require surgery."

Neddy....you know anything about backs?

Oh no...
Kershaw is hurt... This could be serious trouble. Dodgers are having major rotation problems all year as it, now we lose the top dog...
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team

if they had to give him epidural corticosteroid injection to the area of the herniated disk, I would say in my limited knowledge that it would be considered the most involved non-surgical treatment option there is. if mild, docs would usually recommend hot/ice packs with NSAID use, perhaps even a PT. they bypassed all that and other options like oral steroids, then yeah as far as a non-surgical condition can get, this is probably as serious as it gets. hopefully this doesn't lead to spinal stenosis for him. I myself live with twp degerative arthritic conditions between my C5 to C6 and C6 to C7, thanks to my profession and years of not so ideal ergonomics. I am on NSAID treatment with probable fusion surgery down the road.

having said, that, it could simply be that Kershaw being a professional athlete, and the physician he saw being the team doctor, a case of going for the fastest resolution to a problem that may not be as bad. a regular person with not to strenuous jobs can still function without being able to be in 100% of physical shape, and can afford to go through a long PT time and do cold/hot packs at home but for Clayton to come back ASAP, they may have chosen this particular treatment modality. in fact I am sure this is rather done routinely to pro athletes. I don't know for a fact, but my common sense (which has betrayed me more than enough times btw) tells me it may not be the worst non-surgical scenario but in fact, as reported, a mild case being treated with the biggest gun they have.

Acquisition of Bud Norris

Post#1573 » by Ranma » Fri Jul 1, 2016 1:09 am

Sounds like another Matt Latos stopgap with attitude problems. Oh, joy. I've made it known that I'm not a fan of Pfeifer's and Dirks is fairly negligible, so at least the price was right.

I view Bud as pure stop gap.
I view Latos as an attempt to buy low on a #3 and whiffing.

If Puig's resurgence is for real, we may look back at this time as helping us weather the storm.

am I the only one to think that maybe Bud isn't worth Caleb Dirks? and there is a reason why the Braves are reclaiming their ex prospect to undo their mistake? he threw 0.90 ERA all of last season, and he was up until the trade, posting 1.0 WHIP with less than 1.5 ERA in Tulsa. he is only 23? I wouldn't miss Phillip Pfeifer who is also 23, and after being a 3rd round pick last season, he just got there to Rancho Cucamonga to get destroyed. I sure hope that "player to be named later" is worth a damn. hopfully has better value than Crash Davis.

Norris for Dirks

Post#1577 » by Ranma » Fri Jul 1, 2016 4:48 am

Norris probably isn't worth Dirks, but given the circumstances, I'm just relieved we didn't give up higher value for a stopgap measure. Given the front office's track record in trades lately, they have the benefit of the doubt from me.

Also heard Dylan Hernandez on his piece about Friedman and how he should have went top talent over depth.

My issues with that:
1) There's far more examples of teams with top talent and no depth being poor teams in the MLB than vice versa.

2) We're 44-37 in a WC spot.

3) Cardinals lose Wainwright, Adams, Holliday, and Grichuk for a goid chunk of last year. None replaced with an elite player. 100 wins.

4) our whole rotation is on the DL. Multiple position players as well and my guess is Dylan and the rest of us Dodger fans expect to win tomorrow/ this weekend

#depth

Kershaw's Atlasian Effort + The Adventures of Joc & His Hybrid

Quake Griffin wrote:Jim Bowden (who doesnt seem to care for Friedman) said on the broadcast that we are in on Teheran, Sonny, Andrew Miller, and a bat. He said Kershaw (duh), Seager, and Urias are off limits.

Ranma wrote:To be honest, I'm not that interested in Teheran regardless of the price. Certainly not at the same level of Gerrit Cole or Jose Fernandez. Miller also seems expensive as Yankees' property. Gray is probably going to cost too much as well, but he's the likeliest of them all to be had at a reasonable price.
