Benefit of the Doubt in Home field

Post#243 » by Ranma » Wed Oct 14, 2015 2:43 am

Ellis demonstrably reacts as if the ball tipped off Wright's bat and into his glove for the final out, but the umpire didn't call it. To be honest, I couldn't conclusively determine if it did or not on the replay. Wright subsequently walks with 2 on and 2 out and a full count in the 8th inning.

Alive for Game 5

Thank goodness for Thursday baseball. It's on you now, Greinke. Hopefully, Turner is nursing his body to be available and primed for continued postseason play.

something to think about.

Cubs will have Arrieta ready to Game 1 on Saturday.

If we win.
We'd have to throw Brett Anderson Game 1 and Kershaw in Game 2.
Greinke would go Game 3 in Chicago but him and Kershaw would be perfectly setup for Games 6 and 7.

moral of that story.
we need a good start in that series by Anderson or Wood.

LOL glad that we are on the same wave length and I was discussing the very same point with my wife after Kenley getting the last out tonight. but instead of the optimistic view of winning all first three games, I was telling her that I would not mind giving away the first game as the Cubs are wasting their ace against our scrub and having Kershaw and Greinke ready to go back to back to go up 2-1 with now 4 games to go and only 2 to win when we have Clay and Z going back out there again guaranteed as long as each can win their starts.
ehhhhh f it.

Turner Carrying Dodgers on Bad Knee

Post#256 » by Ranma » Wed Oct 14, 2015 7:24 am

Eric Stephen, TrueBlueLA.com (10/13/15)
Just imagine what Turner might do if he was healthy.

Turner, who missed some time in September with a bone bruise and tendonitis in his left knee, continues to be bothered by soreness and swelling in the knee. There was a noticeable grimace from Turner when he made a diving stop at third base to retire Wilmer Flores to end the seventh inning.
...

Turner after the game was asked how his knee felt.

"It's still on my leg, so we'll be good to go on Thursday," Turner said.

I caught the end of Kershaw getting the monkey off his back... Nice win. We'll close it out at home.

Sorry I wasn't posting live... Time Warner Cable was here for 5 hours yesterday and my internet wasn't working until after the game.

Silver Lining with Puig's Struggles

Post#258 » by Ranma » Wed Oct 14, 2015 4:43 pm

I acknowledge it may be unfair to expect Yasiel Puig to get back into the swing of things with the extended time off due to injury and brief adjustment period, but there is a silver lining to his struggles. This experience seems to have brought him back down to Earth where he's exhibiting some maturity.

Yasiel seems more open to taking advice from his coaches with regard to his hitting approach. He's using two hands to catch fly balls in the postseason showing that he recognizes the importance of the situation and you have to think that watching all the attention and accolades Yoenis Cespedes is getting is driving him to get better. Hopefully, he will continue to incorporate more discipline into his game to go along with this natural talent.

I'm with you Ranma. Puig was at the plate last night and I couldn't help but think, "man this game sure has a way of humbling you." I'm crossing my fingers that this is a message Puig took home.

One thing. Not that is completely matters. I didn't see Puig all year. But my dad went to a couple games and told me that Puig looks out of shape. It may be nothing. He looked the same on TV to me. But that could explain the hamstrings and a lack of discipline over last winter.

anywho.
We still have our dream of Donnie Potato being carried by our talent to a chip.
But I liked his moves last night (Kershaw kinda made it easy). I liked bringing in Hatcher in the 8th and I liked Kenley for the 4 out save knowing there's a day off and we'll have him for Game 5,

Random thought guys.

Am I the only one who thinks AJ Ellis is going to be a great manager for the Dodgers one year?

I'd love for him to retire….get 2-3 years experience and then manage the latter half of Kershaw's career.
