Bases Loaded with 1 Out in the 9th (Updated)

Post#262 » by Ranma » Sat Apr 9, 2016 11:16 pm

Nice piece of hitting by Puig, especially with the sore foot from the foul ball bouncing off it earlier in the at-bat.

Update: Bases are now loaded with A-Gon at the plate due to Turner taking a shot in the ribs from the hit-by-pitch.

You were right, but we scored anyway due to the bobbled ball at 2B.

You Can Do It, Austin

Post#266 » by Ranma » Sat Apr 9, 2016 11:24 pm

Man, I'd love to see Barnes break through in the regular season today.

Update: Ah, he got some good wood on it, but it falls short.

Hatcher gives up another hit immediately upon entering the game in back-to-back games. Now he tweaked himself by losing his footing on the wet mound on that last pitch.

Btw....take Barnes' at bat as another plus from this weekend that has been sort of sour so far.

Missed Double Play

Post#271 » by Ranma » Sat Apr 9, 2016 11:36 pm

Freaking Micah Johnson! Barnes had Posey easy but our non-fielding second-baseman can't catch the ball to apply the tag.

Update: Nice recovery on the strikeout by Hatcher. Let's finish it off with another out to end the inning. Hershiser says the Dodgers have no more position players and suggests Maeda and then Stripling as athletic options for possible pinch-hitters.

2nd Update: 3 straight balls, Hatcher? Come on! Now to a full count.

Hatcher Strikes Out the Side

Post#273 » by Ranma » Sat Apr 9, 2016 11:47 pm

Chris Hatcher gets his man on a breaking ball that just catches the inside corner after the batter fouls off a string of consecutive fastballs.

Post#274 » by Ranma » Sat Apr 9, 2016 11:51 pm

Seager doubles to give Culberson a chance to bring him home with 1 out in the 10th inning.

Update: Charlie Hustle does it again!

Charlie Hustles as Player of the Game

Post#279 » by Ranma » Sun Apr 10, 2016 12:32 am

Charlie Culberson not only goes 2-5 with the game-winning RBI, he makes two nice defensive plays. One of which brings a big smile to Clayton Kershaw's face to end the 8th inning. Kershaw seemed to be jobbed early by the umpire.

The Giants currently hold the tiebreaker for the division lead with both teams sharing the same record, so tomorrow's Kazmir vs. Cueto matchup will be for the NL West lead.

This is why I wanted Culberson on the roster over filth like Crawford and Guerrero and I'm going to be pissed if he's moved off for one of them.

Analytics?
Scouting?
Whichever one you pick....guys like him and Barnes are hard working players, with a lot of grit and chips on their shoulder. I want them in my foxhole.
