In any case, I like how classy the organization is in not only recognizing the achievement on their opponent's part, but also going out of its way to provide him with mementos from the occasion. Kudos, Dodgers!

Maybe we should offer to do that for the rest of the NL teams given our offensive woes on the road as well.

Joc Pederson goes yard for his 24th homerun of the season, but only his 4th since the All-Star break.

Wow! And also like Utley, Peraza just flipped the ball directly out of his glove to Rollins to initiate a double play attempt. The difference is that this time it was completed and ended the inning. The kid is taking to emulating the vet so maybe we'll see him tear it up on the basepaths as well.

Sorry guys. Was traveling back to LA and a little busy.

1) Love that our organization sent Arrieta the rubber and dirt etc. etc. First class organization all the way.

2) Peraza should have let whichever OF (Joc?) who called him off let him make the catch.

3) love that Greinke out dueled Bumgarner. MLB Network went on and on and on and on and on about how Mad Bum is the best big game pitcher and how he'd treat this like a playoff game. It was even better to watch Young Joc to take him deep as well. What a great duel.

3) WOW! The range on that play where Peraza flipped the ball to Jimmy in a BIG SPOT in the game. Took skill AND some character if you're asking me. The slightest hesitation or a miff would have ruined the play and we'd have a tie game. I know the rap on him is hat he doesnt have an arm but hey, having a good 2B is still one of the essential elements of being "strong up the middle" and fielding a good defense. That plus his speed on the base paths are making it look like Howie will be given a QO this winter and a compensatory pick will be coming this way.

http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/dodger-report/post/_/id/16643/dodgers-bullpen-is-getting-its-act-together-fast

It's no secret why the Dodgers have suddenly taken command of their division. In the last eight games, in which they have gone 7-1, their bullpen has a 0.66 ERA, has allowed 20 hits in 27 1/3 innings, struck out 27 and walked 10. It was the final piece, putting this Dodgers' pitching staff over the top, from good to unrelenting.

Great stat to read for us during this stretch and a lot of these innings are high leverage.
I'm still willing to bet our WHIP is too high and there were a number of situations we were in over this time that were unnecessary (Jim Johnson hitting 2 Cubs comes to mind) and downright scared me **** as a fan.

But still….10 times better than we were in the pen immediately after the deadline.

Avilan has been AWESOME and I didn't expect him to be at all.

One more thing.

We're 74-57 now.
Last year we were 74-57 at the same time.

Last year we lost the 132nd game to go 74-58.
A win tonight would put us ahead of last year's schedule

I can't believe I fell asleep pre-game only to wake up and witness the last inning and 2/3 of the game, but I'm glad to see we're now up on San Francisco by 6.5 games.

From what I understand, he has either an average or maybe above average arm. It just doesn't stand out. It should be fine for 2B and is probably adequate for shortstop. I just prefer my SS to have a cannon for an arm. Then again, his range would be better than Seager's so there's a trade off. Overall, I think Peraza is the better SS but he'd be great at 2B.

I dunno how old you are, but I am glad you sound like me, brother.

man I haven't had the time to post lately because of what's been going on with my office. I have a loyal staff in most part and loyal following of patients whom I care at utmost excellence of care, but ever since my trusty lead assistant left me because her husband got a high paying job in North Dakota this January, I have had a revolving door of assistants who wants high pay who can't do the job. I am sorry for sounding old but what the hell is up with this millenniums? I need an older assistant to apply, all these 20, 21 year olds wants unrealistic pay for their barely accetable skillsets and they do not want to work on fridays or come to emergency pt care on weekends, the last one did not even want to stay until the end of a regular work day and I had to accommodate her need to take 20 days a year off on top of regular holiday pay for her religion, and have her go home at 4 when we close at 6 every day and still wanted more. gave her a raise 3 times in last 18 months and yeah she just quit today. good luck finding a boss like me elsewhere.

sorry Ned. I can vouch (somewhat lol) on how hard it is to find the right kinda help as a dental assistant and how a lead assistant/ manager if theyre good enough is crucial.

How electric was Kershaw last night?

I didn't want him to go out for the 9th and I wanted Donnie to pull him but he made it through. With a month left in the season, it looks like he's going to have 5 more starts minimum to finish the year. He has a really good chance at touching 300…a feat he might have touched last year if he didn't miss a month of baseball ( i still the organization was just resting him).

Interesting. I read a rumor that we were considering a 6 man rotation down the stretch. Now Magic Mike is called up. Wonder if we'll go to that down the stretch if SF really falls off the wagon. They don't have to. They have every reason to keep fighting and make those 4 in SF at the end of the year a dog fight.
