I would believe our FO is smart enough and methodical enough not to buy into Colletti-like populism based decision making that would strap the future for years to come.
if we want to bring in a starter with fresh arm with dynamic stuff, bring up De Leon. that kid is killing it down in AAA right now. he is older than Urias and should have no limits at this point after a long layoff to begin the season.

so, it looks like we are getting Jay Bruce in a 3 team trade and Puig is going out. other than that, details are very sctechy. I sure hope we are not unloading the top 4 prospects in Urias, DeLeon, Holmes or Bellinger. I hope the deal involves names like Anderson, Buehler, Davis, or Johnson.

Wait. We're trading for Bruce by shipping out Puig and prospects?! That makes no sense.

Looks like it's a 3 team deal and we are getting a pitcher back.

I really dont like Bruce and I really hate how left handed we are. It's unbelievable to me how much we've coveted a heavy legged, poor defense, poor track record (over the previous couple years) player like Jay Bruce.

Bruce has AA written all over it but if it's Archer coming back, I can live with it somewhat.

Not impressed tbh.

if we do get Bruce, is Turner the only impact right handed bat in the lineup? man we are gonna get killed against lefty ace in the playoffs. here is hoping for something else.

The issues Puig could solve if he was healthy and played up to his potential.

god I can't take the poor writing of Dylan Hernandez any longer.

"Puig's value is lower than ever before, but if wait, it may get even worse, so why wait?"

is his logic of wanting to trade Puig for anything, even for nothing as a throw in to a package somewhere... anywhere, for what in return, exactly? the rumor has it that the Reds already did not want Puig in return.. can't LA Times hire a decent writer who actually passed college logic 101 anymore? TJ Simers was as scumbag but at least he was interesting to read, and Bill Plaschke is a moron but at least you can palpate his passion in his words. this guy Dylan is non of those things and his reasoning is as good as ****. even a useless piece such as Zach Lee found a buyer and we got a valuable middle infield bench player like Taylor, Puig even with his terribly declining value, can fetch a hell of lot more than just a "throw in" for a package.

just checked the Fangraphs' WAR on Jay Bruce. 0.7. Puig, 0.3.

Seager is the 6th best in the entire baseball among all qualified position players with 4.7, and Turner checked in as the second best on the team with 3.2, and Turner and Bruce are only about 6 plate appearances apart. Jay Bruce's DEF rating at the RF is -15.9. my god...
how the hell is this guy gonna "provide a power surge" to the dodgers offense? with his .319 OBP we are gonna see a lot of the same frustrations we have felt with Puig, killing rallies since he can't get on base and whatever the positive impact he will have with his long ball (which looking at it deeper, seems like an empty stats) will be negated with all the routine flyballs he will drop and stretching a single into a double and double into a triple, for the other team...... :nonono:

Jay Bruce is a player for the years past, guys who hit homeruns but can't score runs unless they hit homeruns. like Juan Encarnacion or even our own folk hero, Eric Karros. other than a couple of seasons, it was so frustrating seeing that 90s dodger team just waste rally after rally because we could not get on base... it was homerun or nothing offense for so long. Bruce should go play for the D backs or Nats. guys like Tony LaRussa or Dusty Baker must love those fellas still. but please no not for our dodgers..... :banghead:

Thank you.

It's bad enough we seem to be in on him. It's worse we have been in on him since the season started until now.

Move on from this guy already...please. I can't see how he makes us better in 2016. Just wait for Ethier to get back if you want some LH pop that canNOT hit LHP. At least then the defense wont be as poor.

Miller to the Indians.

Dog. DO SOMETHING. Will Smith or Passan. SOMETHING. Scratch my freaking itch already.

Btw...lol at the haul for Miller.
Frazier and Justus Sheffield. Highly decorated prospects plus 2 more going out.

In a semi-funny way, we should see what Kenley Jansen could get on this market. It's unbelievable.

just a update on Shoei Otani.

so far in 17 starts this season, he has pitched 116 innings, 8W-4L, 2.02 ERA with 2 complete games.

also, he is hitting .354, 13 HRs and 36 RBIs with total of 57 hits in 161 at bats.

too bad NPB is still stuck in the 80s when it comes to reporting player stats, the baseball reference also adds to that with 1.017 WHIP and 1.147 OPS. we officially have a Japanese Ruth, folks. now we gotta go get him. I believe the NPB and MLB are restrucuring their posting agreements after this season.

Every tweet says we're going to do something.

Jon Heyman ?@JonHeyman 56s56 seconds ago Jersey City, NJ

dodgers still interested in archer and moore, word is. LAD a sure bet to do something impactful today.

I don't believe that we will.

Neddy, you're against moving Urias for Sale right?
Ranma?????

I'll settle for Matt Moore and another bullpen piece.

rejoyce!!!!! Jay the stonehands Bruce is now a defensive problem for the New York Metropolitans!!!!

judging by how long it has stalled, it must mean

a) they are working hard to pry Urias away and Andrew and Co. are not budging

b) andrew and co. are therefore trying their most creative ways to entice the Sox

c) now RedSox is also in the talk, and I can totally see Dombroski getting fleeced on his prospects for Andrew to make Kenny Williams happy and we take advantage on them.

and now the bleacherreport alert juse gave me new that we got Rich Hill and Josh Reddick from the A's!!! what did we give up?
ehhhhh f it.

Urias for Sale

Ranma?????

Personally, I'm against trading Julio Urias for Chris Sale, but I'd understand it if we made the deal. The thing is Sale is one of the very best pitchers in baseball and still fairly young, so there is an unlikelihood that Urias will ever reach such stature despite his potential. However, my concern is with Sale's high-effort and strenuous delivery. MLB pitchers are fragile as it is, so the added uncertainty given his mechanics is worrisome.

ERA leaves a lot to be desired.
Does this guy have electric stuff or something?

Dedicated Thread for Chavez Trade

His fastball is supposedly up in velocity despite not being effective. He may need to vary his pitches more and will hopefully benefit from working with Rick Honeycutt. In any case, I posted some stuff in a dedicated thread on this particular deal.

Matt Moore to the Giants for Lucius Fox, Matt Duffy, and another guy.

decent hall for the Rays.
I'm disappointed we couldn't get him but I like still having the future in tact.
