Might be in the building Tuesday night guys.

5 hour drive from where I am but no matter to me. It’s worth it. Will keep you updated.

On the baseball side of it, my con of facing of the Cubs was for their potential to function as our WS. I don’t want this team to want revenge so bad that they blow their load on this series and wet the bed in the WS.

For the most part, I trust this team to not get caught up in that but it’s still a hazard to me.

Rich Hill in Game 2.

Think I’d prefer Kershaw in this spot but whatever. If we do our job, this shouldn’t be a big deal.

NLCS Rotation

Yeah, I see the logic of going with Kershaw in Game 2 to leverage our advantage given that Chicago's Game 1 starter will probably be John Lackey given their liberal usage of pitchers in their NLDS games, but if starting Kershaw in Game 1 of the NLCS practically assures us a victory, we shouldn't look a gifted horse in the mouth, I guess.

Like I've said before, I'd prefer to have Darvish in Game 2 where he can benefit from the home crowd as I feel better with Hill on the mound in Wrigley Field than I do with Yu. Maybe the anticipated humidity in Chicago was a concern for Rich's blister issues.

I am leaning on Jose Quintana for the game 1. I know he pitched for 2/3 of inning last night but it was only 12 pitches, they can consider that a bullpen session in between starts. I can't imagine the Cubs knowing they have Jake Arrieta, Jon Lester, and Kyle Hendricks ready for game 2 through 5, that they would let Lackey be the game 1 starter over Jose Quintana.

as for Darvish starting game 2, I want him in that spot only if we lose game 1. if we win the game 1, I want the next best option behind Kershaw to to open up the Chicago home games. besides, Rich Hill's split for home versus away games are

Code: Select all

Split   SO/W   BA   OBP   SLG   OPS   TB   GDP   HBP   SH   SF   IBB   ROE   BAbip   tOPS+   sOPS+
Home   2.82   .179   .279   .289   .568   79   4   5   2   1   1   4   .237   80   57
Away   4.56   .233   .297   .433   .729   93   4   4   2   1   0   3   .301   127   89
ehhhhh f it.

Glad to hear Kershaw say he doesn’t hold a grudge against the Cubs. I want this team to be strictly business, not caught up in “revenge.” We ARE the better team and I hope we believe that and play with that kind of confidence.

Also glad he acknowledged that people talk about his postseason failures but understands he’s had some success in the postseason and thatvthose are times he focuses on.

Did not know Joe ‘KnowitAll’ Maddon said he thinks his team matches up well with us.

Btw.

Today is the 3 year anniversary of the Stan Kasten hiring Andrew Friedman.

Big picture, I cannot complain. They’re doing an excellent job and this team has a great shot at winning it all.

Seager Sits Out NLCS

Post#498 » by Ranma » Sat Oct 14, 2017 5:34 pm

I read that, by rule, if a player is replaced on the roster due to injury during a series, that player would be unavailable for the next series. I guess it's technically possible for Seager to replace someone on the roster once he feels better by sacrificing that player's availability (Culberson?) from the World Series, but it would look suspect if we were to pull off such a move. This does not look encouraging.

At the same time, I was actually worried about Corey's production with his elbow. Add his back issue into the equation and it's better that we don't count on him. Maybe the Dodgers are onto something with wanting to rest Seager despite his stubborn workaholic routine. I admire the kid's blue-collar commitment to work and improve, but you have to do the smart thing and rest sometime. Hopefully, he learns from this experience and takes into consideration how to take care of his body better. He's already proven quite fragile at such a young age.

I’m devastated guys.

We won all of those games and made it this far for this to happen.

I don’t think we can do it without him. I hope we overcome the adversity but it’s hard to see.

The guy is hurt so bad he can’t even pinch hit. Unreal.

All is Not Lost

Post#500 » by Ranma » Sat Oct 14, 2017 5:53 pm

I don't think we're in bad shape to be honest. In my updated post above, I mentioned how I was concerned with Corey's bat going into the playoffs. I was already not counting on him to not do much in the postseason, anyway. While he showed signs of coming alive, his sore elbow and tweaked back inspire little confidence that he'll be productive. Also, like I said, this actually doesn't prevent him from coming back in this series if and when he feels better.

I want Chris Taylor at SS. When we traded Zach Lee for him, I was impressed with his defensive ability at that position. It may take him a little while to get used to playing the position again, but I have full faith that he'll be a fine defensive shortstop for us.
