White Sox Call Up MLB #1 Prospect
We'll get to see what we missed out on in Moncada during this series. Let's make him regret not waiting for us to sign him in 2015.

Re: 2017 REGULAR SEASON LA Dodgers & international
Kershaw has one more start than Sale and Max. They will probably pass him on their next go around with IP. Kershaw has less total pitches than both of them.
I do still want him fresh for October + not throwing on 3 days rest in the DS.
I dunno how you limit a Texas bred pitcher who grew up idolizing Roger Clemens. He's not going to want to come out of games. He's not going to want to be skipped.
Schedule an injury?
I've always thought his 2014 injury was bogus and a way to limit his innings. Weird, I did not think that last year.
_______________
Kershaw has 15 wins in 20 starts btw.
Currently at 141 wins.
Age 29.
That's 159 more.
These are the type of seasons that help you chase 300. It was frustrating to see him dominate but only get 14 wins in the past.
Wins are an antiquated stat but if he can get 300 in our jersey, I'd be estatic.

Just heard on Mike and Mike that Yoan Moncada eats 85 Twinkies a week.
I'm already concerned about the projectability of his body and why he could not stay up the middle as a minor leaguer.
That did not help. Yikes.

I would say, that's the difference between a good manager to a bad one.
remember how dumb Don Mattingly looked, and looked completely lost when Kershaw was getting crushed in that (i think it was the 6th) inning against the Cards in the playoffs a few years ago? bad managers let players, especially his star players dictate the game. good ones dictate the game by actually managing the players. Jim Leyland, Tommy Lasorda, Mike Scioscia, they don't let players tell them what to do. their words and decisions are the law.
hopefully the next time Dave pulls Kershaw little early and Clayton throws a fit in the dugout, I hope he can understand the big picture finally, when he is on the mound in the 9th inning of the WS winning game in November and his total innings and pitch count for the season matches his usual regular season load in all prior years.

I am not above this idea. in fact I encourage it. taking a month off between mid August to mid September would be great if we have pulled away like 20 game lead over the other two teams in NLW.

I'm also concerned with having Kershaw healthy, refreshed, and at full strength for the postseason, but he did have a 9-day layoff, which he himself described as being tough to get back into his routine in shaking off the rust. I think those innings helped to get him back to being comfortable with the touch on his pitches as well as reconditioning his body for a normal outing.
It's a tough call given how vulnerable and sensitive a pitcher's body can be but I wasn't concerned with Kershaw's usage last night since he looked like he was working out the kinks in his performance.

yeah 9 days are a long rest in the middle of a season, but I prefer that he works out his kinks at the end of September, not a week after the ASG. I know I will sound like an overprotective helicopter mother, but over usage is the exact reason why Sandy Koufax retired prematurely, and guys like Mark Fidryich and Kerry Woods could not last. shoulders and elbows aren't like knees and pelvis, although they are still limbs on human body. Clayton has never had a major, long term injury in his career. this is his opt out aka contract year. it is easy to want to overwork to impress any suiters and being on the best team in baseball with World Series aspirations, he could keep any bodily pain to himself in the critical moment of the season to "will himself" through. that is exactly what I wish never to see. I do not mind having some rust in mid season for having taken too long of breaks here and there. we have more than a 10 game lead in NLW and more than a half a dozen lead in NL overall. we can afford some rust from our typically and often overused ace.

I really do get your concerns, Neddy, because I share them too to an extent. However, since I don't know as much as you do as someone with actual applied experience in the game, I tend to base my judgments on how the pitcher in question is performing.
My concern with shaking off the rust is that since pitchers are such sticklers as creatures of habit, I also don't want them to fall into bad habits with regards to the mechanics of their deliveries and even conditioning, which would arguably be more damaging to a pitcher's future health. I applaud your overprotective voicing of concerns in order to keep us honest and aware of issues since Kershaw is indeed an extremely valuable asset to the team. You're right, given his hard-headed competitiveness, Clayton will not always act for his own benefit.
Like Quake, I'm more concerned about having enough reliable starters for the postseason so that we don't have to push and overextend Kershaw during the playoffs as we have been for the past postseasons. As great as he is, Clayton Kershaw is no Madison Bumgarner in that regard and we've done him a disservice by relying on him to be so.

**** on Fire
Maeda got screwed by the ump on a pitch that would have struck Moncada in the 2nd inning but he's struggling with his command a little tonight.
JoMar mentioned on the telecast that **** has been killing it in batting practice today and he promptly hits a monster shot to left field to get Maeda the lead again. They also go on to say that the Dodgers' coaching staff considers ****'s arm to actually be stronger than Puig's. Maybe it's not as accurate but that is nonetheless impressive and he showed it off with the double-play throw in the 2nd inning.

starting pitchers need 3 games to get their mojo back. whatever the kink they need to work on, if they can't get it right by 4th start, they ain't getting it.
this is a stat gathered by my life time of observing baseball, and it may prove to be wrong if anyone is willing to dig in, but from my memories of lifetime of watching and playing baseball, if you can't get it right by your 4th start, you aint making it.
which is the reasoning behind saying I want Kershaw back by the mid September, if there ever was a scheduled "injury" time off for our ace.

The Fox Sports box score lists the homeplate ump as Jeff Kellogg. I agree that his strikeout strike zone is a joke but Maeda isn't helping himself by continuing with his tentative approach.

I agree that the most needed person in Maeda's life is a sport psychologist. he needs to trust in his own "stuff" like Hideo was in his forkball.

Actually, 3B coach Chris Woodward waved him in. To be honest, I was thinking he should have gone too to test the White Sox's center fielder's arm. However, like you said, both Woodward and I were way off base on the call.
Well, Seager just hit a home run that would have driven Yasiel in so that makes it even worse.
