Maeda Melting Down

Post#885 » by Ranma » Fri Oct 21, 2016 1:29 am

Maeda hits Heyward on a 1-2 count. Now there are 2 on base and nobody out.

Kenta Loves His Slider

Post#892 » by Ranma » Fri Oct 21, 2016 1:35 am

Maeda is throwing his slider a lot. While he has a good feel for it tonight, the Cubs know it's coming and have been laying off it.

I am scared of Fields coming in here.

Would be huge for him to get 4 outs.

Giving Maeda the Hook

I'd normally be perturbed and want Maeda to finish out the inning, especially with the opposing pitcher at the plate, but Maeda was becoming predictable even if he was gutting it out admirably. I feel comfortable with Fields but he's thrown 3 straight pitches out of the strike zone with Lester bailing him out by swinging at the 3rd one. Luckily, Fields gets us out of the inning with the Dodgers still trailing by a single run but Dayton is now up in the pen and I have little faith in him at the moment.
