that Mattingly isn't even considering starting him at short since Hanley hurt his thumb?

loooooolz.
punto? uribe?
look I'm as critical of the kid as the next guy....but give me a break.

i believe Dee has hit 7 out of 28 this spring so far, but he has posted .400 OBP. i also remember reading that he is leading the league in SBs so far.

i don't know what donny sees in uribe or punto as starter material. maybe it has more to do with the vets' guaranteed contracts vs dee's available options.

the fact that crawford will be a PH at best to start the season and greinke and billingsley seems to be injured, and lilly can't throw 90 pitches per start will force donny to get a bit unconventional in his thinking. i am far more worried about hanley's thumb more than anything, or anyone.

hanley is out 2 months man.

wtf.
im pissed.

if donnie doesn't put Dee at SS...ill know he's just a softy who is scared of the consequences of Dee playing well.

yeah the logical choice here right now is to promote dee to leadoff and play SS, then we would have a lineup of

1. L Dee (even if his OBP dips down to low 300 from his current 400, he can steal 60-100 in a full season)
2. R Mark Ellis (his natural position imo)
3. R Kemp
4. L Adrian
5. L Ethier ( i would rather move him to 3rd, have him see more fastball with dee on base and kemp up next)
6. R Luis ( free swinger, but i like him here with puig protecting, proven last year)
7. R Puig ( he can play, period. groom him the way we did with beltre here, then move him up to 5th later)
8. R AJ ( he is a righty who hits like a lefty. just check his split)

but rather donny will probably go with

1. R mark
2. L ethier
3. R kemp
4. L adrian
5. R luis
6. R jerry
7. R uribe
8. R AJ

or

1. S punto
2. R mark
3. R kemp
4. L adrian
5. L ethier
6. R jerry
7. R luis
8. R AJ

both of these lineups are predictable and ridiculous.

no faith in crawford to make it back into the lineup eh?

i don't wish to have to hold my breath everytime a flyball goes out to the left field with his arm issues. crawford will require a cutoff man to be in the middle of the outfield for deep balls to be thrown back into infield.

besides, i believe the smart move is to start puig in left. he is lights out so far batting better than .500 and his OPS is video game numbers. in NL west, all rival teams have total of 50% lefty starters in their collective rotations. having a right handed LF is going to be crucial for us. crawford and puig can platoon until one of them out play the other.

Neddy, let me tell you, watching Puig play was jaw dropping. I have heard Bo Jackson body comparisons, which should offend everyone... but then I saw him in person at spring training Wednesday. Not only he huge, not only does he have power but man is he fast! Crawford looked good as DH, but I came away really impressed with Puig.
Gordon was looking good in the game I saw him play til he got hurt. Trust me, someone needs to teach him how to take out the catcher on a play at the plate! If he held back cause it's only spring, i am okay with that but I believe you get hurt more going half speed than you do when you play aggressive. Gordon was on MLB radio saying last year, he was listening to all the coaches telling him to change this, tweak that... and it got in his head. This year, he is planning on going back to his style of play, what got him to the big leagues in the beginning. I only hope this is true!

just from the few times i've seen Puig...im impressed with his body composition.
i honestly thought he'd be carrying more fat.

and...
i can only hope that is the case for Dee Gordon.
regardless of what our club has tried to do with Hanley at SS and Cruz at 3rd....Dee Gordon being an improved player on both sides of the ball is the best case scenario for our team.

Puig gets dropped down for three weeks I think it is and we control his rights for the 2019 season as well. I can handle waiting on the next MLB superstar!

puig is going to be a stud .... cant wait for him to play everyday with kemp.. Gordon isnt turning out to be the player dodgers wanted. i think there was a trade offer for him last year ... not 100% sure. but im sure there are teams out there looking for pitching and ss .... mabi cleveland. ?

yeah, puig is going to be a stud. no doubt in my mind about it.

i hope we trade crawford to make room, but either is probably more likely. either way, puig will be an upgrade over either corner OFers within very short time.

we sent down puig to AA not for baseball reasons, but for financial reasons. by having him down there for at least 3 weeks, we guarantee ourselves of an extra year of his service time.

personally, i hope we trade crawford while eating most of his salary to bring in a rookie ball/A ball up and coming stud. if we bring down carl's salary to 5-7 mil per year for our trading partner, we will be able to get our hands on a recent 1st or 2nd rounder with a high ceiling.

I have always been a Carl Crawford fan and pushed hard for the Dodgers to sign him a few years ago, but man, Puig looked great! I'd like to see Crawford traded to Pittsburgh where he and McCutchen could be 2/3 of one of the fastest outfields in baseball. If healthy, Puig, Kemp and Crawford could be something special, but I see us trading Crawford before Ethier since Andre has been a Dodger since coming over in that great trade for Milton Bradley

i like andre so much just because he's basically always been there for me. i started watching the dodgers before him but I'm young enough to where he's been with me most of my dodger life.

that said, i want to win one with him just because of that and then trade him.
i actually want to trade both him and crawford.

and eventually have Pederson-Kemp-Puig outfield. or Puig-Pederson-Kemp....no matter
but whichever way i can get that to happen in the next year or 2 I'm fine. with it.

cuz i know i can flip dre and crawford into a some good prospects...and with that...since kershaw is young n greinke is locked up....im thinking...SS...2B????....because the last thing i want to do is re-sign Hanley at big money....ha ha...nooooo...noooo.

hell maybe even AJ Ellis' replacement...he is getting up there in age.

to be honest, i was a huge milton bradley fan. a switch hitter with a pop, loved his enthusiasm. although that energy of his turned out to be poison.

as far as getting prospects in return, crawford will net us less than andre. i love andre and would love to keep him, ultimately kemp will have to be moved to RF and puig is a lock at LF, so both may have to go. we need a leadoff type CF and can use some youth in corner IFers. i think luis cruz is a great option at SS. love his defense and what he can give us at SS much more valuable than he can as a 3B. we have some options coming up from the minors at 3rd such as corey seager, whom i have high hopes for.
of course this will all change if Dee can step up, and become at least an average hitter as a SS. frankly, i think Dee maybe better suited to move out to the center field as his defense as a SS has a low ceiling.
