2015 season dodgers game thread

game 1 baby.

first of all, the lack of framing by AJ has already come back to bite us.

in the fifth inning, Kershaw struck out Clint Barmes but was not called, because the third strike which was about mid high, and better than half a ball inside of the edge of the plate, was called a ball because AJ's mitten was pushed outside, ending up outside the strike zone by letting the force of the ball slide his hands out and away from the plate when the pitch was well within the zone. after the call went against Clay, he gave up a double and led to the situation where Derek Norris beats out the throw from Uribe and allow Kemp to bring home two runs.

now that Rollins hits a go ahead three run homerun, that framing error should not come back to bite us but Kershaw lost a W due to his buddy's framing job.

secondly, I am quite happy with the lineup the dodgers started today.

Puig/Gonzo/Kendrick is a good way to go 2/3/4 for the reasons i have spoken up numerous times about.

thirdly, glad to see I was wrong about Adrian's batspeed. his bat speed is fine. in fact, today he showed how to control your bat to spread the ball all over the field.

BTW, was i the only one to see Will Myers actually leaning into that pitch when Kershaw hit him to start the game?

no harm done tho, the Dodgers win the season opener!

Yea, cheeky little bastard leaned into that pitch.
I saw the pitch you were talking about. I thought it was a strikeout and immediately thought about what you were saying.

I wonder why Grandal wasn't out there on opening day. Maybe it was all the passed balls? Maybe he's still having trouble connecting with pitchers like he did in SD?

because AJ is Clayton's BFF and his personal catcher. I wish we would have pulled the trigger on Hank Conger and traded AJ away. Clayton could have picked Hank as his personal catcher, then we could have had two of the top 6 framers in baseball every night.

and glad the rain stopped. now on to the game #2!

christ! another damn error in the left field by Carl leading to another un-earned run on Greinke. every time a fly ball goes deep into the left, I'm **** bricks now.

Matt Kemp may be killing it against the Dodgers, but Adrian Gonzalez is also all over it against his former team, the Padres.

im glad Adrian has not lost any batspeed, and in fact looks like he has recovered some. it's good for the team but it's great for my ego since i paid $250 for his authentic jersey at the camelback lol.

Sorry I'm a little late to this party.
Damn, that pic in Ranma's sig freaks me out... CP3 and Kershaw... Two guys that come up short in the postseason?
Let's hope not... But if Kershaw pulls a 360 flop on the mound, I'm blaming you and Quake...

Glad to have another season of Dodger's baseball underway. Let's hope it's a loooong one.

Feels like a new era.

Aside from his Opening Day heroics, Jimmy Rollins has made quite a few flubs the past two games. 2 errors yesterday and not going to third on the loose ball at home plate this game causing Puig's out.

lol, can't believe Rollins didn't go to 3rd there.

Wont blame Puig there.
McCarthy walking back to 3rd like he's not sure if he's out.
