Btw, I think my view of Lux was the right one.
and I'm glad the front office is backing it up.

Stone Buddha just got traded to Colorado.
I don't know how I feel about this for our team or Oh. he was on a cheap contact, and he was gonna be cheap to retain. his performance this season is 2.68 ERA at 1.00 WHIP. why couldn't we get him? he would have been the perfect 7th/8th guy.
then there is the fact that Stone Buddha is a flyball pitcher. when he is not getting Ks, he gets flyballs to the OF. flyball pitcher to Denver?

at least for me, I am glad we dodged this giant bullet that would have us in Lux Tax for nothing.
yeah 3 Hs given up in 8 Inns sounds good until you realize his previous outings until those 8 innings has been atrocious. and with 4 walks, his ratio of WHIP isn't exactly eye popping for his best 8 inning stretch of this entire season. talk about a small sample... and in that span he only got 6 Ks. I smell luck factor.

I know the Nats won't want another OF over a reliever, but how about both?
we can send the Nats Puig and Baez. for their Pen, this Fools gold may look real enough to take the bate. Baez's 3.31 ERA this season with career 1.16 WHIP looks pretty damn good for their pen after Sean DooLittle. his mmmph on radar gun is always the allure as well. with Puig tho, they get a similar value ( for this season at least, in terms of their OPS+) who comes with 1 more extra year of control. and most of all, they get more assets which they can trade or keep as both players are under team control this off season for the probable mad trade season that will follow mad free agent signing period.
BTW, we conveniently stay under the cap if in conjunction with these moves, if we also move Maeda to the pen for the rest of the season with Ryu due up to avoid his options. this is brutal for Maeda but we make it up from next season as our 5th starter for the next to eternity, but we can then possibly resign both Harper and Machado, or at least give us a head start to see which one is a better fit if we must choose one over the other.

I'd much rather we pursue deGrom than Archer but I'll settle for Archer.

Archer is so yesterday at this point. let Padres make progress, it moves nothing. either Andrew's old team brings down the price or Archer can move from the Rays of the EastCoast to another Rays in WestCoast for all I care

What is the good on John Axeford?
Feel like he's been terrible for years now but with a super live arm.

I was hoping there was some silver lining from Keith Law or some head that would say something like....
Axford's spin rate is the best it has been in years blah blah blah....good deal for the Dodgers.
But it just seems like middle relief depth.

Machado was a great get... But the rest seem kind of like stats-geek gambles at best and warm bodies at worst...
I still feel like we're missing a piece or 2 to get us through the series.

Looks like Gavin Lux is killing it at Double A ball at age 20. Had a 19 game hitting streak. He continues to kick the ball in the freakin field though.
Delvin Perez? Struggling in A ball.
Go Gavin!!!!11
