Not even doing inventory today on our prospects.

I had in mind who I wanted to keep.
I like Yusniel but I'll def use him for an add like this.

If we're in it to win now, we need to go get deGrom.

If not, this makes no sense and we could have waited until the offseason.

actually, his contract at this point even without sending any back to NYMs could work if we send Maeda to BP permanently for the rest of the season, but that is pretty **** up. I can totally see Dustin May+Robinson+whomever eligible for rule 5 draft going their way plus a vet guy like Logan Forsythe, while we cover some of his salary would be a fantastic deal.

but the Mets will ask for Buehler+Verdugo as starters plus lower level prospects, as DeGrom is (traditional stat wise) the best pitcher in NL this season, with 2 more full seasons under control after this season? man I hope we can do this deal without adding those two.

what if I say we throw in Lux? will you guys be upset? Lux+May+Robinson+lower ranked filler prospects similar to the other 4 from today's deal not named Diaz.

revised lineup projection

vs RHP
1. L RF Joc
2. R SS Manny
3. L 1B Max
4. R LF Kemp
5. L CF Belly
6. R 3B JT
7. S C Yaz
8. R 2B CT3

vs LHP

will have to think about this one. vs RHP solved itself when Quake reminded me of Bellinger's ability to cover CF.

Is Manny playing tomorrow?

I'm miffed I havent seen more about us in the rumor mill.
Get aggressive. We are not winning walking into the postseason with injured Kershaw and a lesser bullpen than last year and winning a ring.

Do you guys think we'll resign Machado? I love what I see from him so far and Seager to 2nd for the shorter throw with his repaired arm would be amazing. Thoughts?

I think we will re-sign him and I think the discussion will be whether he and Seager take 3rd or SS.

Turner will be the odd man out on that side of the diamond in my opinion.
I cannot see Seager at 2B. It is a weird thing. You'd think any SS can handle 2B but that is not always the case and I'm not sure the front office will be looking to put Seager there.

Difference-Making Depth of Crop and Breadth of Development

While it's no coincidence that the Padres currently have the best farm system in baseball after hiring former Dodgers head scout Logan White, I've always given credit to Billy Gasparino for his selections in the mid-to-late rounds of the draft, for the most part. Our organization's investment into resources and the farm system's development of those picks allowed us to pull of the Machado deal without having to give up multiple premium prospects. Even the stingy and slow-to-adapt Baltimore Orioles realize that from having dealt with the Dodgers and seeing how we've benefited from it where they're now planning to devote resources into boosting their scouting and development capabilities and practices.

Machado's Quest to Be the Best

Lest we forget, Machado was a SS prospect when he was drafted by the Orioles 3rd overall in the 2010 MLB Amateur Draft. He only moved to 3B to make room for veteran J.J. Hardy and won a couple of Gold Gloves at that position. I have little doubt that Manny will be a Gold Glove shortstop soon, especially if he stays in the National League.
