Although, I'm most interested in offensive production.

JD Drew.

his last 2 years before getting traded to Atl was not as good as his short stay in Atl, but JD definitely hit better as a dodger for the next 2 seasons clearly than his StL Cardinals' last 2 seasons.

Forgot about JD Drew... He had a good run. Shame we had to go that far down in the memory banks though. 8-)

Makes me nervous going after a guy like Harper, even though I'm a fan.

Greinke worked out pretty well. He also did work in the postseason for us.

I am scared Harper will get 350-400 million.

Guys.

I think letting Manny Machado walk is a mistake.

The Giants are open to dealing Madison Bumgarner. Looks like Farhan is wasting no time with any garbage notions of loyalty for loyalty's sake.

Weird....Ranma has been claiming on twitter how much he'd rather have Farhan over Friedman.

I think I'm starting to feel the same way since Farhan seems to get the idea....team > loyalty.

We met with Bryce Harper in Vegas.

He’s from Vegas right? His turf?
Apparently Magic was there

Magic denies meeting with Harper. So we may dodge paying him top coin.

Bumgarner rumors heating up.

Goldschmidt to the Cardinals.

TIm Kurkjian says Greinke could be on the move. I'd take him back at the right number.

8.3 mill a year for Joe Kelly?
Over 3 years?

Sure thing Friedman.

Maybe Ranma was right about keeping Farhan over Andrew.

Did we just move heaven and earth to make room for Bryce Harper?

There were reports that teams were telling Harper they didn't want to sign him for 10 years but might for a shorter length.

Supposedly he turned down 10 year offer from the Nationals so he may not back down from a 10-year contract demand. But that's assuming there's any team left willing to sign him for 10 years.

Dodgers sign Joe Kelly.
3 for 24.

Cards sign Andrew Miller 2 for 25.
I want Andrew.

Must be... But I get the feeling they've been trying to rid themselves of Puig and Kemp... Like it's an addition by subtraction move, which is really puzzling to me at least... Hope it was for Harper though at least.

this is purely a salary dump and nothing more, Harper or not.

If harper is the reason for this, which I won't protest if that was the case, as long as ( and knowing he is a Boras Client, he does) have opt out clause in say, after 3,5, and 7th year of the deal. but the issue at hand is that then, our outfield is entirely too goddamn Lefty.

who's our OFers? Bellinger, Pederson, ****, Taylor, and now Alex Verdugo? knowing **** and Chris will get infield action too, the full time outfielders are entirely too damn left handed. Bryce won't solve that issue but his split isn't as ugly as you would think for a lefty power bat. but with $$$$ being considered? I don't want just a "slightly above average" against left handed pitching against a possible 30+ million per year dude. if not then, do we dare to play platoon on a mega bucks aka highest paid player on the roster, to be a part timer?

personally, I hope we stay off of Harper. but knowing that we gained prospects rather than players, I believe, there will be new addition via free agent, impending very soon.

BTW, I do like the kids we gained. Jeter Downs is a year younger than our Gavin Lux in terms of positional competition within the organization, and Josiah Gray is just a nasty fastball/slider power pitcher. both being under the age of 21, I am okay with it. in fact, I sure hope now from here on, Puig's home won't get burglarized anymore.

IF we do sign Harper as our RFer for the next decade, then our OF will look like

against RHP,

LF L - Pederson
CF L -Bellinger
RF L - Harper

with the infield with Muncy-Taylor-Seager-Turner and **** being the ultimate utility, we could win it all. but,

against LHP?

do we now trade Joc for a RH bat to pair up with Alex Verdugo?
ehhhhh f it.

This is why Manny was an important FA. With his RH power bat, the lineup seems less susceptible to LHP. Without it, it looks like we are searching for a RH bat. Looks like that ship has sailed on both ends and he will end up a Yankee.

Color me unsurprised if we go cheap and sign AJ Pollock guven his injury history. We offered the Diamondbacks for Pollock.

Also....are we trading for JT Realmuto? He is a RHB. He’s nowhere near the framer that Grandal is but he should be pretty much better at all the things that don’t piss off fans: consistency at plate. He does have a passed ball problem too.

Anywho. I hope we sign Bryce. I could use some excitement with this team/franchise. We backdoored our way to our 2nd straight pennant imo. We had 2 big cities give awful ratings for the WS and that makes sense to me. We need a true superstar. Why not?

Grandal signs with Milwaukee.

While LA Fans were twitter mobbing Grandal during the NLCS and blaming him totally for losses, the Brewer’s brass saw the value.

They’re a smart org.
This is a good move.

We’ll struggle to replace him for a while.
