haha I think you did well on the game thread. A lot better than what I do. We are up 4-0 with nomar smacking one out. So far so good for the good guys.

Nomar homer!
up 4-0 so far. This Edgar Gonzalez doesn't look too good. If anything is going to stop the DBacks from being a contender, it's going to be the pitching staff, and subpar play from Randy Johnson when he gets back. We'll have to see if he can still be an ace of a staff, but it's hard to do there with the former NL Cy Young winner, Brandon Webb.

5-1 win! Penny's off to a good start, ERA wise, but his control is a little shaky, he's been surrendering walks all over the place.

Penny started off the season the same way last year. I believe he was 10-2 or 11-3 around the all star game. He was also the starter for the NL and I'll never forget how he struck out the side to start the game.
The only thing that concerns me is that Penny has some fatigue issue, he usually gets tired and doesn't finish strong. He struggled to finish last season after the All Star. Schidmt is another example, I think he is a 6 inning pitcher in my opinion and I don't know if he finishes a season strong. I guess we will see.

Agree on Penny. The guy is a great 1st half pitcher but disappears in the 2nd half. IMO i think the issue with Penny is that he throws every pitch with 110%. He goes for the strikeout instead of the simple out. By the time it's the 4th, the guy is sweating like a pig (Gagne like sweat) already.

Gagne sweats after his warm up tosses.
If Penny learns some stuff from Derek Lowe about becoming more of a ground ball pitcher with some AB's instead of going for the strikeout every time, he can become an elite pitcher.

All i can say is that Pierre came through for us in the last 3 games. Boy does having Furcal and Pierre at the top of the line up help or what?

wow, after going through a mini-slump, Pierre has really come alive. I think because he doesn't have that stress of being a leadoff hitter, he's become more relaxed at the plate and waiting for his pitch.

Nice win. I really miss watching the games. I have to catch up on Sportscenter and the LA times.
Schmidt was put on the IL?

The good news is that Braz and Kuo are throwing again while Kemp is rehabbing in Vegas.
