Iknow that we might be sending are 2008 1st round draft pick away soon but i wanted to take a look at what we might be getting/missing out on.
1. Darren Collison: say what you want about D.J. Augustin but it is collison who scouts have ranked as the best pure point guard coming out this year(besides derrick rose whom we have no shot at getting). Collison has t.j. ford like quickness and he is now comfortable enough to be a pure point guard. His jumpshot has improved every year and his defense is second to none of the other point guards in the draft. most scouts are comparing his development to that of raymond felton.
2. D.J. Augustin: obviously hes having the best season out of all the point guard prospects this year(including Rose and Bayless), and he is also the purest point guard available(besides Rose ofcourse). The reason why he isnt being talked about as a top 10 pick is mainly for two reasons. The first reason being his size at about 5'10 or 5'11. Many question whether or not he will be effective on defense because it will be hard for him to guard the big time point guards like billups, kidd, nash and etc.. The second reason is that although he has a good amount of quickness, his speed and atheleticism is not on the same level as a tj ford or a chris paul. Experts main comparison for Augustin so far has been Jameer Nelson.
3. Patrick Patterson: make no mistake about it, if he declares this year he will be selected at the mid- late 1st round. But also make no mistake that when teams look back on the draft people are going to wonder how a player so talented fell so far. He is very strong and very atheletic and considering that he is only 18 years old he has a great amount of post skills and fundamentals. The only knock on him is that he is "only" 6'8 which is considered undersized in todays league but since he is only 18 i could see him growing another inch or two. The draft websites have said that if he stays in school another year than we could be looking at the next elton Brand. I know the cavs dont need another power forward but if he is still on the draft board and collison and augustin are gone than the cavs would be stupid to pass on a player with 20 and10 potential.
4. Tyler Smith: a shooting guard with great atheleticism and great perimeter skills. He does a little bit of everything and his only true wekness seems to be a suspect jumpshot. I expect that once teams begin working players out than he will no longer be within our grasp because the only reason why he isnt being talked about as a late lottery pick right now is because tennessee does a good job of hiding him similar to andre igoudala at arizona. It is very hard to find a 6'7 player with great ballhandling and passing skills to go along with great size, strength and atheleticism.
5. Danilo Gallinari: A international player on the rise who at 6'9 can shoot the lights out as well as any of the best american 3pt specialists and he is also a good ballhandler. He excells with or without the ball and pairing him with lebron would be a dream. The only reason why i dont have him 1st on this list is because if he keeps putting up those 20 5 and 5 games in international play than he will be a top 5 pick by the time of the draft and well out of our reach.

I want a big man that can change a game with his defensive presence in terms of owning the middle with shot blocking and rebounding..We're gonna need a Z replacement soon anyways, and I would prefer to get an established PG as opposed to a young one..
My guy is: Serge Ibaka
In terms of offense, notice the footwork, and the fact that he keeps everything high in the post instead of bringing it back down..
