Lebron needs a second in command before he truly make noise. This group of guys isn't going to do it. Acquiring equally bad contracts (in proportion to output) for Gooden and Hughes could prove to be a worse disaster than anyone is willing to realize.

What team in their right mind would give up better contracts for Gooden and Hughes? Those two "losses" were addition by subtraction plain and simple. Besides Wallace's and Hughes' contracts are virtually the same. Larry didnt want to be here, Gooden is braindead, no loss there. Wally's deal becomes a HUGE valuable expiring coming up this offseason and into next season. Those moves alone were worth the dumping of Hughes and Gooden. Plus we got a chance to get a free look at Delonte to see if he fits in here well. If not then he can move along, if so we can sign him relatively cheap. How are we possibly in any worse shape now than before?

Oh and Sasha rocks. :)

Again, :-?

Wally's $13M becomes an expiring next year; Joe Smith expires after this season; Delonte makes $2 mil; heck we have $24M in expirings next season. Is this the first time you've been trying to follow the Cavs?

That leaves only 3 million for you guys to use. Not a substantial sum.

This is true, but it would've been the same way pre-trade. Still leaves us S&T potential though.

I'm praying it isn't for Mike Dunleavy or something.

Expirings definitely have value when you notice that the centerpieces of several big deals this year were expirings.

Bird seems to love Dunleavy, I don't see them trading him.

The centerpiece of the Cavs deal should've been expirings.

1. Who would have given us expirings for the guys we traded?
2. Lebron wouldn't have been pleased.
3. We now have expiring contracts for 2009 to trade for a star this offseason.

True, pleasing Lebron is important.

If they had been better players, a lot of teams would've...but they stunk.
