Question for the Cavs Board

Post#1 » by warren weel im » Thu Mar 27, 2008 2:30 pm

I am a 1st time poster in your thread but all I want is to solicit info from your POV what you think about some proposals I will be presenting. Please send in your most honest and most brutal comments.

Q1. Trade Proposal with NY Knicks

Jamal Crawford
-- for --
Eric Snow + #19

Q2. Is Varejao expendable now that you guys have Big Ben, Big Z and Joe Smith at the rotation?

Q3. What package are you expecting for the 19th pick? Or is he kept at all costs?

Thanks in advance for the replies and keep them coming.

Absolutely no way would I give up a first rounder to get Jamal

Varejao is not expendable

I wouldn't trade the first unless I got a seriously impactful player back.

I can say with 99% certainty we will not be trading our draft pick, and if we were it would definately not be for Jamal Crawford.

As for AV he is not near as untouchable as he used to be. His stunt last offseason has made his future here questionable. However, seeing as how everyone else in our big rotation is on the wrong side of 30, if we do trade him we will be looking for another talented young big in return.

I am not opposing trading our #1 but it has to net us an allstar type player.....not allstar potential.....an actual allstar. I really think we have some assets to make a play for someone in the offseason in 08 and 09. The fact of the matter is that if the Dan's cant get it done......say bye bye LeBron.....and I dont blame him. I mean seriously.....name the last team to win a title with less than two allstars.....I know thats not the end all be all....but LBJ needs some talent

Like the others said, it's unlikely we trade our pick (unless as part of a trade up in the draft).

As for Andy, it is likely Andy is traded next year along with some expiring contracts as part of an upgrade in the front court. Probably a mid season trade. It's not that we want to get rid of Andy, it's that his agent is a problem.

Q1: No. The Cavs would rather have a young big and Snow's expiring the Jamal and his shoot happy style of play.

Q2: Andy really isn't that expendable. He gives us a lot of energy and is the only young one out of our big men.

Q3: I really think we'll be holding on to the pick. We need a replacement for Z since he's getting up there in age. If we did trade it we would want some kind of young big man probably.
