We do this thread from time to time. Rank them on performance this year 1-15. Obviously, try not to get stuck in the "what have you done for me lately" approach, but look more over the whole season instead.

5. Hughes (sucks, but does put forth an effor when he's out there even if it's just defense)
6. Gooden (hurts more than he helps..Too many mental lapses, and there's times he just quits)

I actually had Gooden and Hughes switched back and forth a few times. I probably should have left Hughes above Drew.

Larry's above Drew. And may be above Gibson soon - for the last 6 games, Larry has played above his career averages in points, FG%, 3p%, FT%, blocks and steals.

Lebron is obvious, and I think Z is the clear #2, because he's taken on more of the load this year. Varejao made an immediate impact, and Gibson is lights out from 3 point range, although I'd like to see him use more of his quickness on defense. I put Devin Brown higher than what other people have listed because he's been a solid all around contributor, and he's come up with some very important plays in some close games. Gooden is talented enough to rank higher than Brown, but I would much rather have Brown on the floor in a close game than Gooden. Hughes is getting worse by the minute, but he's still a good defender, while Damon Jones has earned his recent increase in minutes. Newble is having his best and healthiest year as a Cav, which is a shame, since he's being moved within the next couple weeks. Pavlovic is a complete disappointment. He's too streaky, he lacks mental toughness, and his numbers can be easily replicated by 70% of the swingmen in the league. I'd be completely fine if they had to give him up in a trade. I think Dwayne Jones has been pretty decent. I'd like him a lot more if he'd be willing to sacrifice any nice bones in his body to become a Charles Oakley-type enforcer for Lebron. Would anyone honestly object if the next time somebody hits Lebron too hard on a play, only to have Jones come running at the opponent's head with a flying elbow? If I was Danny Ferry, I would sign him long-term then and there.....

It is not crazy in the least. Zydrunas is having a solid season and there isn't many centers in the East that can guard him. Actually I'd say with Shaq on the way out along with not making the playoffs even if he isn't leaving Miami. He will give us the advantage in any series(except Orlando) we come into at his position come postseason time. Z is our solid number 2 and it isn't close. Hughes if he keeps playing like he has been recently, I would put third on our roster. Varejao and Gibson are just as much if not more important than Hughes to this team. Are you Larry Hughes?

to be far to stlboy, Larry could be our 2nd best player. And if he can get back to the level that would put him there (and he's been making progress lately), we're going to be very hard to beat.

But right now, Z is clearly our 2nd best player.

Hahaha...Z and Gibson are better than Hughes on their off nights. Hughes is absolutely hideous. He's been a little better lately, but last night, in a game where we really needed him to step up because of all the injuries, what does he do? 6/16 FG and clanks some potentially momentum building shots in the 4th quarter.

We could lose Hughes for months at a time (like we have in the past) and you would see no change in the Cavs play if everyone else was healthy.

If it were legal to just cut a player from your team and not have to pay him his salary, Hughes would have been cut last year. When his contract runs out, I wouldnt even be shocked if he had to play in the D-league...he's that bad.

If the Cavs traded Hughes straight up for a player who was injured and couldnt play all year, but had an expiring contract, it would be an AMAZING deal...that when you know you are terrible (and certainly not the 2nd best player on any NBA team).

On a random note, does anyone remember Donny Marshall? He was a starter on UConn a year after the real Donyell Marshall graduated. I think the Cavs actually drafted him before he fizzled out.

But I guess if I had a point at all to this is 1. if anyone else remembers him, and I didn't just imagine him. 2. If any other 2 players not only had pretty much the same name, played at the same schoolo within a year of each other, and also played for the same NBA team as well? Has this ever been mentioned before?

I had fogotten about him and was looking at the Cavs drafting history the other day and saw Donny Marshall and was like WTF? It took me a few minutes to remember the difference.

The only other same name players I could think of would be something like Jay, Jason, and Jason Williams.
