I was watching Larry Hughes last night
attending the Wiz game and it got me to
thinking: Why didn't he live up to
expectations in Cleveland?
Was it just the fact that he didn't play
well or was it the system? Because
dude was far from being the player
he was in D.C..
I just wanted some opinions.
Thanks.

President Trump told two senior Russian officials in a 2017 Oval Office meeting that he was unconcerned about Moscow’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election because the United States did the same in other countries

Kinda like a bad marriage. Cavs tried to change the things I think Larry did best; playing off the ball, slashing, and up tempo. Frequently we had him starting the offense, then look for spot up opportunities in a grind it out offense. It seemed that almost from the time he got here he was uncomfortable, didn't adapt well, then the fans started getting on him. Just never seemed he got a fair chance with the Cavs to show the skills he had instead of the skills we thought he should have.

He was a bad fit along with the fact that he had injuries that no matter where he was playing he would have sucked for a couple years. That hand injury had him hampered until this year when he has finally learned that he could do many of the things he did previously.
But, most importantly, he really just put up the same numbers that he did before the contract year. So it'd be reasonable to claim that was the aberration and not his time in Cleveland.

Any particular reason for this statement?

Injuries robbed him of his athleticism/ability to finish at the rim so he tried his hand at becoming a perimeter shooter.
When he couldn't do that he just said he wasn't be properly utilized/he shouldn't be playing point guard/ect. and even had Arenas do some talking for him. Then he got traded to Chicago.
Turns out he wasn't underutilized, he just sucks.

Yea, it's just too bad that you guys couldn't figure this out before you traded him to an even suckier team. I would have loved to have him back. He sure didn't suck in the playoff games that he played against us or the games against you after he was traded. He never was a real finisher at the rim. I liked his jumper. The reason he never got that off so much with you is partly because you have one player who is the center of the offense and who goes to the rim almost everytime. I'm sure the injuries slowed him also.
