MLE can be used every year, so called bi-annual exception is for every other year...

Thanks.

But that had me thinking of this blockbuster: give J.R. the MLE, then pull a sign-and-trade sending Sasha and Andy to the Nugs for J.R. and Camby Man. Denver gets a younger big man and we get Smith to replace Sasha's candy ass.

if we were to offer the mle to smith and he accepts it and then denver matches it they would be able to trade smith to anyone BUT US. So we could negotiate with smith, but once an offer is matched the player cant be traded to that team for one year.

Yes, I remember that trade restriction was in Andy's contract. He couldn't be traded to the Bobcats.

:banghead:

This looks hopeless. Once again I like to take time out to thank our friend Carlos Loozer.

thanks for shedding some light on the CBA...I realized after i made the one post about him being a restricted free agent that it didnt really matter because we're WAY over the cap....but I just figured it was gone and didnt matter...either way...they wont get rid of him...too many others to get rid of.

I don't think it is going to happen, unless we offer more money then the nuggets are willing to match. But as everyone is explaining if we do so we will be way way way over the cap.

I really dont think the nuggets are going to give him away so easily. I believe he was their best 3 point shooter last year. For a team that really needs a 3 point shooter to spread their floor for melo and AI, I doubt they will give up their best or one of their best shooters. I could see them trading him if they received a better 3 point shooter or two three point shooters.

So if yall wanna talk sign and trade with the nuggets feel free. Just don't think their is a feasible way for us to just out right sign him.

He also is nuts. He can't really even play defense in george Karls crappy system, so I doubt he could in Mike "Mr. Potato'' Brown's system

I think he would be a better sidekick player than Redd. He's young and very athletic and talented. I don't think he's a real mental case as everyone is making him out. Plus I think he would really accept playing defense if he came here. You can't guarantee me that Redd will commit to defense.

JR Smith has the potential to be BETTER than Redd. No disrespect to to Redd, but JR is an amazing talent. His athleticism is one of the best ive ever seen for anyone his height, his range is just insane (hes made shots that ive never even seen anyone attempt), and if he just had a more consistent mid range game, and worked on his defense he WOULD be that second all star that could help Lebron.

Of course he has a history of issues, but like someone said earlier, its a low risk, very very high reward move. (Doubt it would happen as Denver would be stupid to let him go).
