Well i hate to say this...

Post#1 » by JDaWg1000 » Thu Jun 26, 2008 8:48 pm

but they way it looks right now the cavalier will be heading into next season with our same roster, plus our draft pick (or picks if we buy any). as of right now any players cleveland has been rumored to be looking atare either traded ( O'neal, ford) or most likely not being traded (Redd, thanks to this reported deal between NJ and MIl that sends RJ to MIl for yi and bobby simmons). I know its still early in the offseason but i dont think we will make any trades.

and the players we wanted to go after in free agency (Marion, Davis) are not opting out.

so i hope we get a good pick at 19 and we resign boobie and delonte for next year

The value of the expiring enhances more towards the deadline... Everybody wants some RIGHT NOW, but it's just nor realistic...

I for one am pretty happy that Redd is off the table, as I didn't want the guy..

i think it is premature, to say the least, that redd, is "off the table." there is little doubt in my mind that MIL wants to move his contract. period.

That's pretty much the safest bet on what Ferry will accomplish this offseason...plus maybe some veteran MLE signing...

Still, we can dream about getting Redd and Brand, can't we?

isn't this post just a tad premature? shouldn't we, AT THE VERY LEAST, wait until the completion of the draft tonight to write the (seemingly annual) off-season obituary for the cavs??

People overvalue expiring contracts. The only teams looking for expirings are New York, New Jersey, and Memphis.

Heck about a month ago we were stating that the Cavs were going to start the season with Wally at the 2. It was pretty obvious that would happen. As someone already said expirings are worth more at the trade deadline. I do however think one of the sillier things said is that nobody is looking for expirings. That's nonsense, everyone is looking for expirings but the drive is not as great now as it is later in the season. Right now, everyone is trying to sell seats.

that is one of the most nonsensical posts that I"ve seen lately. Fact is, if we can't get anything for our expirings we won't get anything now or at the deadline. And LeBron might end up in Brooklyn no matter what we do. It is what it is. We are just trying to put the best deal around him right now.

I always expected our team to be the same come the start of the year. We will be able to make a move near the trade deadline. That is when expirings become the most important.

You know, I think this makes it more likely that the Bucks will trade Redd. I think him and Jefferson are redundant.

Waiting until the trade deadline is a huge risk because

a) Nothing good might be available in which case you either force a weak trade through or get no value whatsoever for your expirings

b) It takes a while for new players to settle in, and just like this year, our playoff run will likely be affected because of it. If Delonte/Joe/BW and co. had a full season and training camp to develop chemistry we likely could have been a better ball club.

It would be much better to have our team set going into training camp, but it's looking like Ferry can't get that done
