What would you guys think about a West for Lee trade though?
I like Lee.. However, I can't really commit to it for a couple of factors..

#1- I like the thought of being deep at th PG position, considering I don't think of Boobie as a PG... Having Mo with Delonte as his backup is something that I like... You can't have to many quality guards, and you have to account for injuries if they should occur... Problem is, I don't see Delonte signing a cheap multi year deal, thus not having him past this year.. Then again, I want a 2009 championship, and am only thinking truly about this season...

#2- I want another productive big guy, but I also don't want someone to get into JJ's way in terms of being able to contribute, and getting some much needed valuable experience..

So it's really difficult...

At this point I don't think I do it... But, so many things can happen between now and the deadline that I just don't know, and am probably more inclined to wait...

Trading Wally and Snow
Trading AV and needing another big and probably 2 makes this scenario quite interesting...

What we do know is that we have a rookie PF that could come in and contribute probably...Most likely not a Joe Smith type of contribution, but could potentially perform well enough to compensate for his loss somewhat in small doses ... Now, if we trade Delonte, we don't really have a player that can come in behind Mo and initiate offense...So, if it comes down in terms of need, I believe Hickson's potential could afford us the opportunity to hold onto Delonte and maybe pursue other avenues that would allow us to get another big without trading Delonte..

I think Randolph would play well with King James... i know people hate him but you cant ignore his talent... i think Lebrons presense could chill him out, so could winning. People think he is a career loser, but i remember when he and Sheed were helping Portland win, it didn't work out in the end but still

Eric Snow and 2nd rd pick

for

Jerome James and David Lee

2010 still intact. Knicks get another expiring who could serve to be on the bench to help Duhon even though he will never make it on the court and David Lee besides Zach is the Knicks only guy capable of a double-double and would serve well in Browns system and a guy the Cavs would not be able to get with a 2nd. James is off the books and if we ever need a spot can always cut him but there are rumors he may retire also but he likes the money.

Considering we almost trade Lee to memphis for the 5th overall pick he's worth more than a 2nd rounder. Snow's retiring and we're trying to make JFat retire, if not his contract is up soon anyway.

If Knick fans are basing David Lee's value upon a rumor of a potential trade of Lee for the 5th pick in the NBA draft -- any deal would be that much more remote between the CAVs and the Knicks. I don't count rumors as facts only a possible indication of direction.

What I posted on the trade board thread about Knicks big men:

From everything I have read, the CAVs main interest is David Lee whose rookie contracts makes it difficult to match up with. We all know that it is the last year of David Lee's rookie contract which means he will be looking for big money like at least 10 million a year which I am not sure the Knicks want
to go there. The CAVs already have the 2nd highest payroll in the NBA which means taking on the ugly contract like Randolph's is prohibitive and I doubt the CAVs are going to take on that huge problem.

The CAVs are no more going to help the Knicks cap situation any more than the Knicks want to give players like David Lee who might just insure that Lebron stays. Given these factor, a deal between the Knicks and the CAVs is a long shot at best.

The CAVs got Mo Williams from the Bucks without taking on another bad contract like Gadz which should tell how much of a chance there is that the CAVs will take on Randolph's ultra ugly contract and his baggage. I am sure the Bucks GM tried with all his ability to get the CAVs to take on Gadz from the Bucks -- but the CAVs wouldn't bite. I am sure that Walsh has tried to attach Randolph to teams interested in David Lee and the result has been and will be the same -- NO deal. While Curry is not as long of a shot -- his contract combined with David Lee's contract ambitions would severely limit the CAVs in the 2010 free agent derby which I doubt the CAVs feel Curry is that good to justify that.

There has been nothing published in the media that report on the CAVs about the CAVs interest in Randolph or even Curry for that matter. I have read CAVs boards and fan sentiment is very much against Randolph and to a much less extent for Curry. The talk centers around David Lee. The source that Smooth posted about on a Cleveland board has been pretty accurate and he's stated twice that the CAVs have No interest in Randolph which is a reflection of the CAVs fan base too.
Given the bloated contract obstacle the Knicks are trying to move -- I don't see how their can be a deal between the CAVs and the Knicks given their different goals of salary cap management. The Knicks want to reduce their salary cap for 2010 and the CAVs don't want to bloat theirs to miss out on 2010 either.

I don't know if I can still find the link but there have been a few reports that the only reason Lee wasn't traded to Memphis for that 5th pick was Lee flat out refused to re-sign with memphis long term.

IN the reports that I read it was the only reason, and the first time I was genuinely pissed at David Lee in his career.

No point in being upset with Lee unless you know how much he was being offered

He stated that he just flat out wouldn't resign with Memphis, so basically unless memphis went nuts and offered him a zach type contract he wouldn't be re-signing there and Lee really shouldn't be getting 8 figures unless he shows a much better jumpshot and much better man D.
