Props to your team

Post#1 » by Balkman Balla » Sat Dec 20, 2008 3:59 pm

8-) They handed it to my Nuggets tonight and they looked alot more scary than the Celtics. Lebron has become the best player in the league and Melo can only stand in awe.

No doubt they will win the East. I only wish the Nuggets would somehow pick it up and shock the West  :P

Boston and Orlando will be a challenge, but I really like what Cleveland has this year. I think Denver will make some noise this year in the playoffs. Billups was a great addition. Good luck.

Yea that was funny, how everytime LeBron scored, they showed Melo standing, shaking his head. He is officially a WITNESS.

compliments to denver as well. lebron is better than melo, no doubt. but denver has really been so much better with chauncey. as of now, they're 4th out west which is certainly something to be proud of. the pistons are in a decline with iverson now running the show, so props to denver's front office for getting something like that done.

Hey guys I'm just coming over from the Boston board for some friendly conversation. These questions I am asking are just becauise I haven't seen you guys play much this year. I am very much looking forward to the probably (some say inevitable meeting) of the Celtics and Cavs in the ECF.

What has made the Cavs much better than last year?

What has Mo Williams done that other Cavs PGs could not do?

Is Big Z playing better or worse than last year? What's the deal with him?

What other player (bench or starter) has really stepped up his game from last year?

Lack of distractions is a big part of it. Last year it felt like the team played shorthanded most of the year.

What has Mo Williams done that other Cavs PGs could not do?

Create his own shot and let LeBron play off the ball more. Add the fact that he's a solid outside shooter to it as well.

Is Big Z playing better or worse than last year? What's the deal with him?

Before the ankle sprain where he missed a couple games, he was having his best season since before all the foot surgeries. He isn't playing a ton of minutes, but a solid 15-7 per night.

What other player (bench or starter) has really stepped up his game from last year?

Delonte West. He is playing much better than I expected as our starting 2 guard. Sure he is undersized, but he's more than made up for it.

1) i think its a combination of the improved play of delonte and mo. both of those two keep the defenses honest enough with their shooting where they cant just lag off them and triple team lebron. z has been huge as well with his work around the glass and his ability to knock down open 20 footers and even three pointers this year. while these three have stepped up, i think its a matter of the entire playing well and developing a killer instinct and demolishing teams they should demolish as opposed to last season when inferior opponents would give this team all they had and more often than not win (an example of this would be a 2-6 record against the bucks and bulls combined)

2) mo gives up something we have never had with lebron - someone who can create their own shot and get into the lane with relative ease. while mo benefits from lebron, it helps that he can be on the floor at the start of the second quarter and we wont lose anything with lebron on the bench - i actually think we have a positive point differential when lebron is on the bench (not sure about that tho)

3) i dont know if z is better than last season, but he has been very consistent. z unclogs the lane by pulling the opponents center out to the three point line because opponents know if they leave z wide open, he will burn them (he's even made 6-13 from behind the arc). with no big men in the lane and defenses not having the inability to lag off delonte or mo, that leaves lebron 1-on-1 with his defender - and well thats bad for the defender

4) i dont know if one player has stepped up, but moreso the entire team has stepped it up this season. ben has been rejuvenated and really has a knack for tipping the ball out for offensive rebounds (he can do this because no one guards him and gives him the advantage when it comes to the boards). andy has provided great energy off the bench and even added a jumpshot this season. sasha and wally are both playing good defense (which is saying something for those two) and knocking down shots (sasha moreso than wally). our young guys (dj and jj) have also had the ability to get in the game and show what they can do

hope that helps

The Cavs are much healthier this year. We had at least 2 players out for each game last season. Also, we've added a PG who is the perfect fit for this team.

What has Mo Williams done that other Cavs PGs could not do?

Stay consistent. Create his own shot and for others. Make (open) shots. Move without the ball. Play well in the transition.

Is Big Z playing better or worse than last year? What's the deal with him?

I think Big Z is playing better this year. He is more involved within the offense, his percentages are up. He is making shots from all over the floor including from the 3 point range. Not to mention, his defense in the post has surprised me as well.

What other player (bench or starter) has really stepped up his game from last year?

West, by playing like he did in game 7 against the Celtics. Varejao, by being a huge factor coming off the bench. Maybe a little bit of Wally.

the c's are playing great but I dont think they are AS good as last year. they will miss posey in the playoffs and I dont think Bostons PG is as good as what some think... I think he is just a tad bit better then gibson but both are not even close into how they play. I'd take Cavs in 6 As of right now with our without home court
