They've made the rims to breakaway to prevent shattering of backboards. I don't however think he'll ever get a backboard to collapse like Shaq because he doesn't really hang on backboards like that.

Why has he never entered the dunk contest?

He doesn't want to be in the dunk contest. I truly have no idea why this is so important to some people. The dunk contest is way past it's prime.

If Lebron entered it would definitely become a whole lot more important to everyone. I think the hype alone would give him a sure fire win and would open the door for more 'holier-than-thou' ballers to enter in the future.

Vince Carter is still fresh in peoples minds and Lebron doesn't have the frame to make dunking spectacular(while not involving the play of basketball) in my opinion. Most of the best dunkers are slim built and great leapers. Lebron would have to be be creative to make his bulk and moves look effortless and dramatic. I think that is why Dwight had to be so creative and a reason why it was easy for Nate Robinson to win. As a lot of commentators say he is the best "in-game" dunker and I agree. I just don't think he has the imagination which I think is most important. In a lot of aspects I still think he may win but Lebron being a perfectionist is probably competing more with beating Vince's competition score and getting a perfect score across the board then with the competition.

Lebron doesnt need the extra comparison to Jordan as well if he goes into the slam dunk competition and never wins one.

When you can reach eye level with the rim and are 6'8", believe me, the dunks will look dramatic. If Dwight won a dunk contest, creative or not, Lebron should have no excuse not to enter and take one down. If not for himself then at least do it for the Lebron fans.

To be honest, I think Lebrons dunks are spectacular. But, they always end up looking so easy because of how high he gets. He'd have to do a 720 for it to look like he was working on the dunk. But beyond that, the only people that are begging for Lebron to be in a dunk contest are the haters anyway.

I can assure you, im not a hater. Come to think of it, he's probably my favorite player right now. I realize how meaningless a dunk contest is in the grand scheme of things but what harm could it do? If i were his agent i'd advise him to donate all of his winnings to a charity of his choice. Even if he loses he still comes out a winner. Not to mention that it would make for an even more entertaining weekend. You really think he'd have to do something like a 720 dunk to impress people? I honestly think that he could dunk from the free throw line two handed no problem. He basically dunks from there in games anyway.
